Fastlane Autocare — St Helens garage, MOT, tyres, diagnostics, servicing, repairs and mobile mechanic support

TVR Specialists North West support for Chimaera, Griffith, Cerbera, Tuscan, Tamora, T350, Sagaris and classic TVR owners who want thoughtful servicing, structured fault-finding and carefully authorised repairs from a well-equipped St Helens workshop.

TVR Specialists North West means one regional point of contact for maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, mobile assessment and vehicle collection—without sending owners from one provider to another.
Fastlane has experience with TVRs needing routine maintenance and with cherished cars returning to the road after long periods in storage. We begin with the exact model, engine, service history, modifications and symptoms, then agree a sensible route through inspection, diagnosis and repair.
Our St Helens workshop supports owners from Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, Warrington, Stockport and the wider North West. Drive in when the car is suitable to use, arrange suitable vehicle transport when it is not, or ask whether an initial mobile assessment would be useful.
Searches for TVR servicing, TVR diagnostics and TVR repairs often describe the same underlying need: a workshop that can identify what matters now and plan the rest sensibly. A TVR Specialists North West booking can cover these six main areas.
Oil and filter servicing, fluid and safety checks and maintenance planned around the exact engine, mileage, history, modifications and annual use.
Structured investigation of starting, running, charging, warning, drivability and intermittent concerns using checks suited to the car’s systems.
Assessment of engine, clutch, gearbox, differential, exhaust and related mechanical issues, with the repair scope discussed before work proceeds.
Inspection of visible chassis condition, braking, steering, suspension, tyres and road behaviour, including preparation for an MOT where required.
Fault-finding for temperature concerns, leaks, fuel-delivery symptoms, battery drain, charging faults and other electrical behaviour.
Condition-led checks for stored, newly purchased or lightly used TVRs before servicing, repair priorities or a safe return to regular road use.
TVR Specialists North West enquiries cover the best-known 1990s and 2000s cars as well as earlier Blackpool-built models. Tell us the exact model, registration, engine, modifications and work required so we can confirm the right starting point and investigate parts availability where necessary.
Servicing, diagnostics and repair enquiries across different engine capacities, specifications, ages and levels of modification.
Maintenance and diagnostic enquiries for later TVRs, with the exact engine, previous work and current condition reviewed before booking.
Cerbera enquiries are assessed individually because engine type, specification, upgrades, history and present condition materially affect the work.
Contact us before travelling with an older, rare or restoration-stage TVR. We will review the requirement and explain what can be supported.
TVR’s own heritage material confirms the different Rover V8, AJP V8 and Speed Six eras represented across these cars. View the official TVR model archive. Workshop requirements and parts options still depend on the exact car, so we confirm suitability before promising a particular repair.
Describe the warning, noise, leak, temperature change or starting issue and we will help choose the safest route to the workshop.
Replacing parts from a fault code or forum suggestion alone can waste time and money. Symptoms, wiring, mechanical condition, previous restoration work and non-standard components may all affect the conclusion. Our TVR Specialists North West process starts with the individual car and checks appropriate to the concern.
Battery condition, fluids, fuel system, cooling, brakes, tyres, leaks and safe road use may all need checking before routine servicing becomes the only priority.
Record when it happens, the conditions and how the car behaves. Photographs, video or a clear sequence of events can improve the diagnostic starting point.
Stop if continuing could risk damage. Tell us what the gauges showed, whether fluid was lost and what happened immediately beforehand.
Share invoices, specifications and photographs where available. Modifications can affect diagnosis, parts selection and the sensible scope of repair.
Distance should not prevent your TVR reaching the right workshop. Fastlane’s established vehicle recovery service can collect from your home, workplace, storage facility or another garage, transport the car to St Helens and arrange return delivery after authorised work is complete.
Collection is especially useful for a non-start, a car returning from storage, a temperature concern, a leak or any situation where driving could create further risk. When booking, tell us whether the car rolls, steers, starts and can be accessed by a recovery vehicle.
Some non-starts, battery concerns and initial electrical or diagnostic checks may suit a mobile visit. Tell us where the car is parked and what it is doing; we will confirm whether attending it is a useful first step.
Jobs requiring lifting equipment, controlled workshop conditions, extended testing or substantial dismantling belong at the workshop. If that is the better route, Fastlane can arrange collection instead.
TVR Specialists North West coverage starts at Fastlane Autocare in St Helens, positioned between Liverpool and Manchester. Collection and delivery extend our reach across the region’s five counties.
Outside these places? Call with your postcode. Longer-distance collection and nearby North Wales enquiries may still be considered by arrangement.
Send the registration, exact model, engine, mileage, service history, known modifications and a clear description of the work or symptoms.
We confirm whether you should drive in, arrange collection or begin with an appropriate mobile assessment.
We discuss the findings and estimate. Additional repair work only proceeds after you have authorised the agreed scope.
Eligible servicing and repair costs can be divided into 3, 4 or 6 monthly payments through Payment Assist. Terms and eligibility apply; ask the Fastlane team to confirm the current option before authorising work.

TVRs are simple in the places that matter and awkward in the places that do not. The engines are strong when they are looked after and expensive when they are not, and most of what comes through is the result of a car being used too little rather than too much.
Cooling is the recurring theme. These cars run hot in traffic, the systems are not oversized, and an old hose or a tired fan is what turns a good day out into a recovery truck. We pressure test rather than guess, and we would rather replace a perished hose on a service than have you find it on the M6.
Electrics come a close second. Earths corrode, connectors sit in damp, and a fault that looks electrical is often mechanical or the other way round. Chasing it properly takes time, and we will tell you what the diagnosis is likely to cost before we start rather than after.
The Rover-derived V8 in the Chimaera and Griffith is the one most people know, and it responds well to sensible maintenance: oil little and often, cooling kept honest, and the fuelling set up properly rather than left to drift.
The Speed Six in the Cerbera and Tuscan is a different proposition and needs someone who has been inside one. Valve clearances and the condition of the timing components are what decide whether one of these has a long life or a short one, and both want checking on schedule rather than on symptom.
The bodies do not rust, which fools people into thinking these cars do not corrode. The chassis underneath absolutely does, and outriggers are the usual place. It is worth having it up on a lift and looked at properly every year, because a chassis caught early is a repair and a chassis left is a rebuild.
We can weld and repair where it is sound to do so. Where it is not, we will say so plainly, because there is no sense spending on a car that needs a bare chassis job to be right. See our welding repairs page for how that work is done.
