Some days at the garage remind us why community matters just as much as anything under the bonnet. Recently we were proud to lend our support to a charity fundraiser at St Mary's Blackbrook, here in St Helens, raising money to help a local child get the electric wheelchair they need. It was a genuinely moving day, and we wanted to share a little about it and say thank you to everyone who turned up and gave so generously.

A local cause close to our hearts
When we heard that a young member of our community needed an electric wheelchair, and that the people of St Mary's Blackbrook were rallying together to make it happen, we knew we wanted to help. An electric wheelchair can make an enormous difference to a child's independence and confidence, opening up everyday freedoms that many of us take for granted. Out of respect for the family, we are keeping the details private, but the goal was simple and the whole community understood it straight away.
The community came together
What stood out most was how many people were willing to give their time, energy and support. Families, neighbours, local businesses and volunteers all played a part, and the atmosphere on the day was warm and full of goodwill. There is something special about seeing a town like St Helens pull together for one of its own. Fundraisers like this are never really about any single contribution; they work because lots of people each do a little, and it all adds up to something that changes a life.
Thank you to everyone who supported it
We want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who was involved. Thank you to St Mary's Blackbrook for hosting and organising, thank you to the volunteers who worked hard behind the scenes, and thank you to every single person who donated, shared the appeal, or simply came along on the day. None of it would have been possible without you. It was a privilege for us at Fastlane Autocare to stand alongside so many kind and generous people.
Getting involved in your own community
If the day taught us anything, it is that small acts of kindness go a long way. You do not need to do anything grand to make a difference. There are always local causes that could use a helping hand, and getting involved is easier than you might think:
- Keep an eye out for fundraisers and appeals run by local schools, churches and charities.
- Offer your time as a volunteer, even if it is just for an hour or two.
- Share appeals with friends and family so more people hear about them.
- Support local businesses that give back to the community.
Whatever you are able to give, whether it is time, money or simply spreading the word, it genuinely matters to the people on the receiving end.
Why this matters to us
Fastlane Autocare has always been more than just a garage. We are part of St Helens, and the people who walk through our doors are our neighbours, our friends and our community. Being able to support a local child and their family, alongside so many others who care, is exactly the kind of thing we want to be known for. If you would like to know a little more about who we are and what we stand for, you can read our story on our about us page.
We are committed to being a good neighbour here in St Helens, and to supporting the local causes that make our community such a special place to live and work. If you are running a fundraiser or a local appeal and think we might be able to help, we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to get in touch. To everyone who supported this appeal, thank you again from all of us at Fastlane Autocare. Together, our community truly did something wonderful.
