Mobile Mechanic Wigan
Wigan isn’t one place, it’s about thirty. Pemberton doesn’t park like Standish, and a terraced street in Ince gives us nothing like the room an estate drive in Shevington does. So we ask where your car will actually be sitting before we load up, and you get the call-out, the labour and the parts as three separate figures before anyone sets off.

Mobile mechanic Wigan · What we can do for you
Mobile mechanic Wigan: what turns up, and what it can do
A van with the working half of a garage in it, and our own workshop behind it for the rest.
What we carry is chosen around what Wigan actually rings us about. Fault-code equipment that speaks to the modules rather than just reading a light off the dashboard. A load tester for batteries and a meter for the charging system. Trolley jack, axle stands, torque wrenches, brake tooling, oils, filters, bulbs, wiper blades — and a wheel balancer, because tyres are far and away the biggest thing this side of the borough asks us for.
What no van carries is a two-post lift, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise. Clutches, belts, gearbox internals, welding and exhaust work all need the car properly in the air with the weight off the wheels, and those go to Boundary Road with collection and return built into the job.

The useful part is that you don’t have to pick between the two up front. Tell us the symptom and we tell you which it is. Most of the time it is the driveway, and the whole thing is over before you have finished a brew. Occasionally it is the ramp, and then we take the car off your hands and bring it back sorted.
Either way it is the same firm and the same technicians. A diagnostic scan or a full service starts wherever you have parked; only the jobs that genuinely need lifting move.

Six numbers worth knowing
The figures that settle most arguments about whether something needs doing yet.
Mobile mechanic Wigan · On your drive
Six jobs we finish where you parked
All six of these are done at your address. Anything heavier goes to the workshop and comes back to you finished.

Tyres and punctures
Send the size off the sidewall and we bring them out and balance them on the spot. Punctures inside the middle three quarters of the tread get a plug and patch from the inside.
Mobile tyre fitting Wigan
Warning lights and diagnostics
Stored codes, live sensor readings and a road test where the fault needs one. A code names a circuit, not a broken part, so we read the evidence first.
Car diagnostics Wigan
Batteries and charging
Load tested before anything is sold, with the alternator checked in the same visit. From the driver’s seat a tired battery and a failing alternator feel identical.
Car battery replacement
Brakes
Pads, discs and the noises that arrive before them. Measured in millimetres rather than guessed at, torqued to figure and bedded in before we drive away.

Servicing
Oil to your engine’s own specification, filters, and the checks that head off the expensive stuff. Booked round your week, and the book gets stamped.

Auto electrics
Earths, connectors, lighting circuits and the drains that flatten a battery overnight. Patient work, and far easier on your drive than in a busy workshop queue.

Flat tyre on a Wigan street?
Text us the size printed on the sidewall and your postcode and you get a price and a slot straight back. The balancer comes with us, so the wheel goes back on the hub finished rather than half done. If the timing is awkward there’s pay monthly tyres and tyre finance.
Mobile mechanic Wigan · What it costs
What you’ll actually pay
Three figures, given separately, before you commit to anything: the call-out, the labour, the parts.
Keeping them apart is the whole point. One total tells you nothing about where the money is going — whether the component is dear, the labour is heavy, or the driving is quietly eating half of it. Broken out, you can look at each line and decide, with nothing hidden inside another number.
Labour is set against the job, not a clock ticking on the drive. If a wheel bolt has rusted solid or a caliper piston refuses to wind back, that costs us the extra hour rather than you. The only thing that shifts an agreed price is finding a genuinely different fault, and if that happens we stop and ring you with a new figure before going any further.

On parts you get a choice wherever a real choice exists. On some cars the manufacturer’s own component is genuinely the right answer and we will tell you so. On plenty of others a quality aftermarket equivalent does the identical job for noticeably less. We explain which is which and let you pick, instead of quietly deciding for you.
If paying it all at once is the problem, raise it on the first call — spreading it over three, four or six months at 0% is simple enough, but it has to be set up before the invoice is settled rather than afterwards.

Want the number before you commit?
Tell us the reg, the symptom and whereabouts in Wigan the car is sitting. Three figures come back before anything is booked.
Mobile mechanic Wigan · If it won’t start
If your car won’t start in Wigan
You don’t need to know what’s wrong. You just need to tell us what it does when you turn the key.
It is the call we take most often, and it is a lot less mysterious than it feels standing in a cold street at half seven in the morning. These are the questions we will ask you on the phone, and why each one earns its place. Answer them and we can usually load the right part before we leave.
What can you hear when you turn the key?
We will ask you to describe the noise rather than name a part. Silence, a single heavy clunk, fast clicking and an engine spinning without firing each send us out with something different on board.
What are the dashboard lights doing?
We will ask whether they come on brightly, dim as you turn the key, or do nothing at all. Lights that fade away as you crank usually mean the battery is emptying under load.
It has been getting slower for a while
We ask because a car that has cranked lazily on cold mornings for a fortnight is telling a very different story to one that was perfect yesterday and dead this morning.
Does it go if somebody jumps it?
If it starts on a jump pack and then dies again overnight, the usual answer is either a battery that no longer holds charge or something staying awake and draining it while the car is locked.
How is the car being used?
We ask about your typical journey. Short local runs across the borough never put a full charge back into a battery, so around here they often fail younger than the mileage would suggest.
Where exactly is it stood?
A car on a terraced street with traffic passing gets treated differently to one on a drive. It changes how we set up, and sometimes whether we recover it rather than work at the kerb.

What usually happens next is straightforward. We test the battery and the charging system together before selling anything, because a rested battery should sit near 12.6 volts and anything much under 12.4 is discharged rather than worn out — a different problem with a cheaper answer. If the alternator is the real culprit, a brand new battery buys you a fortnight and nothing else.
Most no-starts are running again before we leave. The ones that are not are usually fuel, spark or timing, and those we price as a diagnosis on its own so nobody signs up blind. More in car won’t start Wigan and battery replacement.
Mobile mechanic Wigan · Did you know
Hills wear a clutch out faster than motorway miles ever will
The pull up towards Aspull, Haigh and Standish, and the crawl in and out of the M6 junctions at either end of the day, is about the hardest mixture a clutch ever sees. Every hill start slips the plate against the flywheel for a second or two, and that second is where the friction material goes. A car doing thirty thousand motorway miles a year can easily outlast one doing eight thousand round here. It is why “it’s barely done any miles” is not the reassurance people assume it is when the bite point starts creeping up.
Mobile mechanic Wigan · Servicing and brakes
Servicing and brakes without giving up a day
The jobs people leave the longest are the ones a home visit handles best of all.
Nobody looks forward to handing a car over for a service. It slips not because anyone thinks it does not matter, but because the appointment always falls on the morning you needed the car. Doing it on the drive removes the whole obstacle: the car is where it always is, and it gets serviced while you are indoors.

It is a proper service, not a token one. Engine oil to the exact specification your engine calls for rather than whatever grade was nearest, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, and a fuel filter where the schedule asks for one. Then levels, tyres, lights, wipers and anything showing early wear. The book is stamped and what went in is written down, including the oil grade and part numbers.
If the car is still inside its manufacturer warranty, that stays intact. UK rules are written specifically so that servicing to schedule with parts meeting the maker’s specification protects your cover wherever the work is done, so you are not tied to a main dealer to keep it.
Brakes work the same way. Pads and discs are ordinary driveway jobs: measured, replaced, torqued to the manufacturer’s figure and bedded in before we leave, so they are working properly by the time you drive off. New pads start life at around 10 to 12mm of friction material and are done at roughly 3mm, and we give you your actual figure so next time you know whether it is urgent or months away. Electronic parking brakes are wound back using the car’s own service routine rather than forced, which is what wrecks the little motors. See brake repairs.
Mobile mechanic Wigan · Jobs that need the ramp
When it needs lifting, not a driveway
Some jobs need the wheels off the ground. That is not a refusal — it means we take the car and do it properly.
Clutches and dual-mass flywheels, timing belts and wet belts, gearbox internals, welding, exhaust work and anything needing the suspension unloaded all belong on a ramp. So does an MOT, because a test is only legal at an approved test centre.
Ours is at Boundary Road in St Helens. We collect the car, do the work and bring it back, and that collection is part of the job rather than one more thing for you to arrange. See clutch repair, gearbox repairs and MOT Wigan.
Bodywork, panel repairs, welding, air conditioning and AdBlue system work are all things we do ourselves rather than send elsewhere, so ask rather than assuming they are somebody else’s department. We also look after vans and fleet vehicles for businesses across the borough, and camera and sensor calibration for anything with driver assistance on it.
Not sure we can do it where your car is stood?
Send us the make, model, what it is doing and your Wigan postcode on WhatsApp. We will tell you whether it finishes on the drive or genuinely needs the ramp, and what each of those would cost, before you commit to anything.
Mobile mechanic Wigan · How soon we can reach you
Can we get to Wigan today?
Often, yes. It depends far less on the drive than on whether the part is already with us.
We are not going to claim we can be with you in a quarter of an hour, because we cannot, and a promise like that only ends with you stood waiting.
Usually the same day
Common tyre sizes, punctures, batteries, no-starts, bulbs, wipers, warning lights and most electrical faults. Ring before late morning and we can normally be with you that day.
Usually the next day
Brakes, servicing and anything needing a part ordered against your registration. We would sooner turn up tomorrow with the right component than today with a hopeful guess.
Booked into the workshop
Clutches, belts, gearbox work, welding, exhausts and MOTs. These get a slot at Boundary Road, with collection from Wigan and return to your door included.
What we try never to do is hand you a four-hour window and disappear. You get a time, and if the job in front of yours overruns you get a message saying so. Callout hours match the workshop: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 12:30pm, and Saturday mornings go first, usually days ahead.
Mobile mechanic Wigan · Payment Assist
Spread a bill you hadn’t budgeted for
Anything on this page can go over 3, 4 or 6 months at 0% interest. Up to £1,000 it is a soft credit search, so asking the question leaves nothing on your file.
Mobile mechanic Wigan · Why we quote first
Why the price comes before the visit
The worst moment to talk money is stood over an open bonnet with the job already half started.
Most people have been through that version somewhere. Somebody arrives, has a look, confirms roughly what you already feared, and only then does a figure appear — with you stood there, the car half apart, and no practical way to say you would like to think about it. Nobody decides well in that position and we would rather not put anyone in it.
Agreeing the money first suits both sides. You get the number before anything happens to the car, and you can walk away from it at no cost. We get to know exactly what the job is, which means the right parts come with us and enough time is booked to finish it in one visit instead of two.
When nobody yet knows what is actually wrong, we price the diagnosis by itself. You pay to find out — whether that turns out to be a blocked filter, carbon build-up in the intake or something far less dramatic — and then you decide what happens next. Nothing gets ordered and nothing gets fitted until you have heard what is involved and said go ahead.

Where we come out to around Wigan
The whole borough, plus the towns either side of it, all covered by the same team and the same price list.
Within Wigan itself that means the town centre, Pemberton, Ince, Hindley, Platt Bridge, Whelley, Worsley Mesnes, Marus Bridge, Standish, Aspull, Orrell, Shevington, Winstanley and Bryn. If you are closer to one of the towns above, those pages describe the same service nearer to you.

Where we end up working in Wigan
Cars pick their moments badly. These are the places we get called to most, and what tends to be wrong when we get there.
Wigan grew out of coal and cotton, and it still has the shape of that — a town centre ringed by villages that were once separate places and in many ways still are. That matters to us because the driving is different in each one, and different driving produces different faults. Somebody doing four miles a day round Platt Bridge is wearing their car out in an entirely different way to somebody sitting on the M6 from Standish every morning.
The other thing that shapes the work here is the ground. The northern and eastern edges of the borough climb, and hills are hard on clutches and hot on brakes in a way that flat towns simply are not.
Terraced streets in Ince, Platt Bridge and Whelley
On-street parking with traffic passing close. Most jobs still finish at the kerb; we set up so the car is worked on from the pavement side wherever the road allows it.
Standish, Shevington and Aspull
Longer commutes and proper hills. Clutches, brakes and suspension come up far more often here, and the bite point creeping up the pedal is the complaint we hear most.
Pemberton, Orrell and Winstanley
Estate drives with room to work and a lot of short local mileage. Batteries that give up each winter and diesel filters that never get hot enough are the pattern out this way.
The M6 junctions and the A49
Motorway miles show up as tyres, brakes and belts rather than town faults. If you commute out of the borough daily, your car wears very differently to your neighbour’s.
Leigh, Atherton and Tyldesley
The eastern side takes us a little longer to reach and we say so when booking rather than quietly running late. Same service, same prices, just a slightly later slot.
Wigan town centre and the retail parks
Time-limited bays and multi-storeys. We can normally reach the lower decks, and we will tell you straight away if a height barrier beats our vans rather than finding out on arrival.
Wherever you are in the borough we come to the car, and the workshop picks up anything needing a ramp. If you are nearer Ashton-in-Makerfield, Billinge, Golborne or Leigh, those pages cover the same service closer to home.
Mobile mechanic Wigan · FAQs
Questions we get asked most
The ones that come up on the phone most days from Wigan.
Yes — we bring the tyres, the jack and a wheel balancer to your address anywhere in Wigan, so the wheel goes back on the hub finished rather than half done. Send us the size printed on the sidewall and your postcode and you get a price and a slot back.
The size is printed on the sidewall — something like 205/55 R16 91V. Photograph it if that is easier than writing it down, because those last two characters are the load and speed ratings your car was built around.
Balancing on site matters more than people expect. A wheel out by a few grams gives you a steering wheel that hums between 50 and 60mph, and it scrubs the new tyre unevenly from the very first week.
We work on driveways, at the kerb outside terraced streets and in workplace car parks right across the borough. See mobile tyre fitting in Wigan, or ring 01744 808586 with the size to hand.
A mobile mechanic in Wigan is quoted as three separate figures before anything is booked — the call-out, the labour and the parts. You agree all three on the phone, and the total you are given is the total you pay when the job is finished.
Splitting them up is deliberate. A single lump sum hides whether the travel, the labour or the component is doing the damage, and nobody can sensibly say yes or no to a number they cannot see inside.
Labour is priced against the job, not a running clock. A seized bolt or a caliper that fights us costs us the afternoon rather than you. Only a genuinely different fault changes the figure, and you hear about that before we carry on.
Where the fault is still unknown, the diagnosis is priced on its own so you are never signing a blank cheque. Ring 01744 808586 for a figure, or spread it with pay monthly car repairs in Wigan.
Most punctures in the central three quarters of the tread can be repaired properly, and we do that at your address in Wigan. A repair means the tyre comes off the rim, the damage is inspected from the inside, and a combined plug and patch goes in.
What cannot be made safe is a sidewall. That part of the tyre flexes constantly as the wheel turns, so no repair will hold in it, and a sidewall cut or bulge always means a replacement tyre.
There is a size limit too — up to about 6mm of damage inside the repairable zone. Anything larger, or a tyre that has been driven on flat and cooked itself internally, gets replaced rather than patched.
We carry repair materials and the common sizes with us, so most of these calls end on the same visit. See puncture repair and mobile tyre fitting in Wigan.
Yes — a full service happens on your driveway in Wigan and covers engine oil and oil filter, air filter, pollen filter and fuel filter where the schedule calls for one, plus a check of levels, tyres, brakes, lights and wipers. The service book gets stamped.
The oil is the part worth being fussy about. We use the exact specification your engine calls for rather than a generic grade, because turbochargers, variable valve timing and wet belts are all genuinely sensitive to viscosity.
An interim service is oil, oil filter and the safety checks, usually every six months or six thousand miles for heavy-mileage drivers. A full service adds the remaining filters and a deeper look round, normally once a year.
We tell you which one is actually due instead of selling you the bigger one by default. See car servicing in Wigan.
We supply them. Give us the size off the sidewall and we come back with prices across budget, mid-range and premium brands for that exact fitment, so you choose the tyre before we set off rather than picking from whatever we happen to be carrying.
Fitment is more than the size. The load index and speed rating stamped after the numbers are the weight each tyre is built to carry and the speed it is certified for, and going below your car’s figures is an MOT failure.
Mixing matters as well. Tyres are best replaced in pairs across an axle so grip and wear stay even, and on four-wheel-drive cars the rolling circumference has to match closely or the transmission takes the strain.
If the timing is awkward the cost can go over three, four or six months. See pay monthly tyres and tyre finance.
Yes. Cameras, radar and parking sensors are reset and re-aimed at our Boundary Road workshop, where a level floor and calibration targets are set up for exactly that, and we collect the car from Wigan and bring it back once the work has been signed off.
The reason it needs a workshop is precision. A forward camera aimed a fraction of a degree out still sees the road, but it judges distance wrongly, and lane keeping and automatic braking then act at the wrong moment.
It becomes necessary after a windscreen change, a front-end repair, suspension or steering work, or a wheel alignment, because every one of those moves either the sensor itself or the car’s stance relative to the road.
Fitting parking sensors, dash cams and reversing cameras is separate work we can do at your address. See camera and sensor calibration and wheel alignment.
Same-day tyre fitting in Wigan is usually possible if you ring before late morning with the size written down, because the common fitments travel with us. The size is printed on the tyre wall itself. Less usual sizes are ordered against your registration and fitted the following day instead.
What decides it is stock rather than distance. Popular sizes for family hatchbacks and estates are on board most days; large diameters, run-flats and van fitments are the ones that normally need ordering against your registration.
If the car is undriveable where it stands, say so on the call. A wheel with a space-saver on it can wait until tomorrow; a car sat on a flat at the kerb of a busy road cannot, and we prioritise accordingly.
Callouts run Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 12:30pm. Ring 01744 808586, or see mobile tyre fitting in Wigan.
Yes. A clutch replacement is workshop work rather than driveway work, so we collect the car from Wigan, split the gearbox from the engine on our own ramp at Boundary Road, replace the clutch and release bearing together, and return the car to your door.
The symptoms arrive in a fairly reliable order. The bite point creeps up the pedal, then the engine revs climb without the car gaining speed in third or fourth, and eventually there is a smell of hot friction material on a hill.
Wigan’s geography brings it on early. The pull up towards Aspull, Haigh and Standish, plus the stop-start queues at the M6 junctions, is exactly the mixture that heats a clutch and wears the plate faster than motorway miles do.
We inspect the dual-mass flywheel and replace the release bearing while it is apart, because going back in for either one is the whole job over again. See clutch repair.
Yes. Gearbox work is done on the ramp at our Boundary Road workshop with collection from Wigan and return included, and it starts with a proper diagnosis, because plenty of faults blamed on a gearbox turn out to be the clutch, a linkage or a worn mount.
On a manual, a crunch going into second while the car is still cold usually points at a synchromesh ring, while a whine that rises and falls with road speed rather than engine speed is more often a bearing.
Automatics are a different animal. Harsh or delayed changes are frequently the fluid and the solenoids rather than anything internal, and a proper fluid service can transform a box that felt like it was on its way out.
Telling you which of those it is before quoting is the entire point of diagnosing first. See gearbox repairs and clutch repair.
For work that finishes where the car is parked, a mobile mechanic in Wigan usually comes in cheaper, because there is no ramp time or workshop bay built into the price. The bigger saving is the day off work and the lift home you no longer need.
Brakes, batteries, servicing, tyres, diagnostics and most electrical faults all sit in that group. Same parts, same torque figures, same technicians — the only difference is which postcode the car is standing in while the work happens.
Jobs that need the car properly lifted are quoted as workshop work, because that is what they are. Clutches, belts, gearbox internals, welding and exhaust work go on the ramp, and we collect and return the car.
We would far rather price a ramp job honestly than dress it up as driveway work to win a booking. Ring 01744 808586, or see mobile car repair.
Yes. Our mobile mechanic brings equipment that talks to every module in the car rather than just reading a light, so we pull the stored faults, watch the live sensor readings and road test it from your address in Wigan before anyone spends money on a part.
A fault code names a circuit, not a broken component. A code pointing at an oxygen sensor is just as often a small air leak upstream of it, and swapping the sensor on the strength of the code alone is how people end up paying twice.
Live data is what separates the two. Watching the actual voltages and readings while the engine runs and warms through shows whether that sensor is lying to the car or reporting a real problem perfectly accurately.
A flashing engine light is the one to stop for, because it means unburnt fuel is reaching the catalytic converter. Ring 01744 808586 or see car diagnostics in Wigan.
Yes. Auto electrical faults are ideal work to do at your address in Wigan, because chasing an intermittent fault takes patient testing rather than a ramp, and your own driveway is a far calmer place to do it than a queue of cars in a workshop.
The common ones are earths and connectors rather than dramatic failures. A corroded earth strap will give you several unrelated symptoms at once — dim lights, an odd gauge reading, a window that has slowed down — and one repair cures the lot.
The other regular is a parasitic drain, where something stays awake after the car locks and flattens the battery overnight. We measure the current the car draws while asleep, then pull fuses one at a time until it disappears.
Central locking, wiring looms worn through in the door hinges, lighting and sensor circuits are all normal callouts. See auto electrician and car battery replacement.
Yes. Land Rovers, Range Rovers and Discoverys are regular work for us, on your drive in Wigan for servicing, brakes, batteries and diagnostics, and at the Boundary Road workshop for anything needing the weight of the vehicle off the suspension. We say which before you book.
Air suspension is the thing owners ask about most. A car that has sunk on one corner overnight is usually a leaking air spring or a valve block seal rather than the compressor, and testing establishes which before any parts are ordered.
The extra weight also punishes consumables. Brake discs and pads, suspension bushes and tyres all wear faster than they would on a family hatchback, so measuring rather than guessing is what keeps the bills predictable.
Diesel models doing short local runs need their filters getting properly hot as well. See Land Rover specialist and DPF work.
Servicing, brakes, batteries, tyres, punctures, diagnostics, auto electrical faults, bulbs and wipers are all finished where your car is parked in Wigan. Anything needing the car properly lifted is booked into our Boundary Road workshop, and we collect it from you and return it when it is done.
An MOT is the one exception that has to travel. A test is only legal at an approved test centre, so ours happens on site at Boundary Road where we are DVSA approved, and we collect the car from Wigan for it.
You can present a car for test up to a month minus a day before the current certificate runs out and keep the same renewal date, which is worth knowing if you would rather get it sorted early than leave it to chance.
We are AA and RAC approved, and our technicians hold IMI Level 4 for high-voltage electric and hybrid work. See MOT Wigan.
Yes, we fit run-flats at your address in Wigan. They have reinforced sidewalls stiff enough to carry the weight of the car with no air in them at all, which is why vehicles supplied with them from new very often have no spare wheel anywhere on board.
The limit is usually around fifty miles at up to fifty miles an hour once the pressure has gone, and that distance comes from the manufacturer rather than being a rough suggestion. Past it, the internal structure breaks down even though the tyre still looks inflated.
That is also why a run-flat driven on while flat gets replaced rather than repaired. The damage sits inside the sidewall where nobody can inspect it, so there is no honest way to sign one off as safe.
If your car came on run-flats and has a tyre pressure monitoring system, staying with the same type keeps the ride and the warning system behaving as designed. See run-flat tyres.
Yes, anywhere in the borough. There is a van covering Wigan, so you get a booked time slot rather than a four-hour window, and a message on the day if anything slips. What decides the day is the part you need, not the postcode.
Batteries, common tyre sizes, bulbs, wiper blades, oils and filters are carried as standard, so those jobs are usually same-day if you ring before late morning. Brake pads and discs vary far too much between models to carry blind, so they are ordered against your registration and fitted the next day.
We would rather arrive tomorrow with the correct part than today with a guess. Turning up twice costs you a second wait and gains nothing, and it is the single most common complaint people have about the last mobile mechanic they used.
The borough is covered end to end, from Standish, Orrell and Shevington through Hindley and Platt Bridge to Ashton-in-Makerfield, and the price is the same across all of it. Ring 01744 808586 with your postcode, or see mobile mechanic Leigh.
We work Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5pm and Saturday mornings from 9am until 12:30pm, and Saturday is the slot most Wigan customers ask for, so it tends to fill several days ahead. Ringing early in the week is the way to get one.
We would sooner give you our real hours than advertise round-the-clock cover and let you down at three in the morning. If a car has stopped in the night somewhere it cannot safely stay, a breakdown and recovery service is the right call at that hour.
If the car is somewhere safe and the problem can wait, ring anyway and leave a message. We will tell you honestly whether it will keep until morning, and if it will, we get to you first thing.
For a car that needs moving rather than fixing where it stands, we can collect it and take it to the workshop as part of the same job. See vehicle recovery.
Yes — Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Vauxhall, Volkswagen, BMW, Nissan and the rest are all everyday work for us. Giving us the registration is the bit that matters, because it tells us the exact engine, the correct oil specification and the right part numbers before we load up.
Two cars wearing the same badge from the same year can take different oil, different filters and different brake components depending which engine was fitted, which is why make and model on their own make for a slower start.
Servicing to the manufacturer’s schedule with parts meeting their specification keeps a manufacturer warranty intact. The rules exist specifically so that drivers are not tied to a main dealer in order to hold on to their cover.
We stamp the book, write down the oil grade and the part numbers, and keep the invoice on file. See car servicing in Wigan.
Yes. Payment Assist splits a repair over three, four or six months at 0% interest, and on amounts up to £1,000 it is a soft credit search, so simply asking leaves no mark on your file. It does have to be arranged before the invoice is settled.
To use it you need to be eighteen or over, resident in the UK, and paying with a debit card in your own name. The first instalment goes out on the day the work is done and the rest follow monthly.
It covers the whole bill rather than part of it — parts, labour and the call-out — and it applies to tyres, servicing and MOT work just as much as to a repair you never saw coming.
Mention it on the first phone call rather than afterwards, because it cannot be applied to an invoice that has already been paid. See pay monthly car repairs in Wigan.
We cover Wigan town centre and the whole borough, including Pemberton, Ince, Hindley, Platt Bridge, Standish, Aspull, Orrell, Shevington and Winstanley, plus Leigh, Atherton and Tyldesley to the east and Ashton-in-Makerfield and Billinge on the St Helens side, all at the same prices.
The borough is really a string of villages around one town, and the driving is different in each. Terraced streets need kerbside work with no room to spread out, while estate driveways and the semi-rural edge give us space to work properly.
We go a little further out too, into Skelmersdale, Chorley, Golborne and Haydock, and we are honest about the drive rather than promising to be with you in fifteen minutes when we are twenty-five away.
Where a page already exists for a town nearer to you, it describes exactly the same service with the same three figures and the same technicians turning up. See Ashton-in-Makerfield, Billinge and Golborne.

What to have to hand when you ring
Three things, and the call takes about two minutes.
The registration
From the reg we get the engine variant, the right oil and the correct part numbers at once. Make and model if you are not stood by the car.
The symptom, in your own words
What the noise is, when it happens, what the dashboard is showing. Describing it plainly beats naming a part — a guess sends us out with the wrong thing loaded.
Where the car will be
Home drive, terraced street, work car park, multi-storey. It changes what we bring, how we set up, and how much room we need to ask you to keep clear.
The one thing that does not help is somebody else’s quote. We would rather look at your car and price the fault in front of us than work backwards from a figure attached to a different diagnosis on a different vehicle.
Mobile mechanic Wigan · Give us a shout
Tell us where the car is and what it’s doing
Give us the registration, what the car is doing, and whereabouts in Wigan it will be sitting when we arrive. Back comes what it needs, the three figures, and the next slot we can reach you in. If it turns out to be something other than we expected once we are there, you get a phone call before a spanner moves.
