Mobile Mechanic Middlewich

Middlewich sits where three waterways meet, and a lot of what parks up here tows something — a caravan, a boat trailer, a works trailer behind a pickup. Cars that pull a load wear brakes, clutches and tyres differently. We come to you and sort it where the car is standing.

A price for your car, not a price for a car like yours

Two cars on the same street can need completely different parts. That is why we ask for the registration first — it tells us the engine, the brake sizes and the battery type, so the figure we give you is the figure for your car.

  • One number, agreed first. Call-out, labour and parts together before anyone sets off.
  • Towing work welcome. Towbars, trailer electrics and the brakes on cars that pull a load.
  • A workshop behind us. Anything needing the car lifted goes into our own ramps and DVSA-approved test centre.
  • Spread it over 3, 4 or 6 months at 0% with Payment Assist

What turns up, and what stands behind it

Mobile mechanic Middlewich: the workshop standing behind the vans

Most of what a car needs can be finished on the drive, at the kerb or in a works car park. The rest needs the wheels off the ground — and that is where having our own ramps and a DVSA-approved test centre changes what we can say yes to.

Our vans carry the diagnostic equipment that talks to the engine, gearbox, brakes and body modules, along with batteries, brake pads and discs, oil and filters, bulbs, and tyres to fit and balance at your address. That covers the overwhelming majority of calls we get from Middlewich, and it means the car is back in use the same visit rather than sitting waiting for a slot somewhere.

When a job genuinely does need lifting — a clutch, a gearbox, welding, anything underneath — we collect the car, do it properly on a ramp, and bring it back to you. You are not handed a diagnosis and left to find somebody else to act on it. The technicians in the bays are the same technicians who come out to you, so nothing gets lost between the two.

Mobile mechanic Middlewich - car being worked on at the customer's address by Fastlane Autocare

Middlewich is a working town. There are trade vans parked overnight on Cledford Lane, cars with towbars sat outside houses in Kinderton, and the big distribution sheds off junction 18 with car parks full of vehicles that only stop moving for eight hours a day. All of those are easier to sort where they already are than by taking a morning off to sit in a waiting room.

If you already know what you need, say so and we will price it. If you do not, describe what your car is doing in your own words and we will work it out — that is what a proper diagnostic scan is for, and it is also why we ask about the last service before quoting anything.

Done where the car is standing

Six jobs we finish without your car going anywhere

Each of these is a normal day's work at a Middlewich address, whether that is a drive in Kinderton, a kerb in Newton or a yard off King Street.

Mobile mechanic Middlewich - diagnostic scan being run on a car at a customer address

Warning lights and fault codes

We read every module the car has, not just the engine, then test the part the code points at before anything is replaced. A code is a clue about where to look, never a shopping list on its own.

Car diagnostics
Mobile mechanic Middlewich - car battery tested and fitted at a customer address by Fastlane Autocare

Batteries and charging

Tested properly before it is condemned, then supplied, fitted and coded to the car where that is needed. A battery at rest should read 12.6 volts; under 12.4 it is discharged rather than finished.

Battery replacement
Mobile mechanic Middlewich - brake pads and discs replaced at a customer address

Brakes, including cars that tow

Pads and discs changed on the drive, with the pad thickness measured and told to you. Pads start around 10 to 12mm and want changing by 3mm, and a car that tows gets there noticeably sooner.

Brake repairs
Mobile mechanic Middlewich - car being serviced at the customer's workplace

Servicing at home or at work

Oil, filters and a full check over, with the stamp and the digital record kept up to date. Done on your drive or in the car park while you are inside working, whichever suits your week better.

Car servicing
Mobile mechanic Middlewich - new tyre fitted and balanced at a customer address

Tyres and punctures

Supplied, fitted and balanced at your address. The legal minimum tread is 1.6mm, but wet grip starts falling away below 3mm, which matters a lot more if you are pulling something behind you.

Mobile tyre fitting
Mobile mechanic Middlewich - towbar wiring and auto electrical fault traced on a vehicle at a home address

Towbars, trailer electrics and wiring

Fixed, detachable and swan neck towbars, with 7-pin or 13-pin electrics wired in properly. We also chase the faults that show up as a trailer board that half works or lights that flicker under load.

Towbar fitting

Tyres without the trip

Cars that pull something

Middlewich tows more than most towns, and towing wears a car differently

Between the marinas on the Trent & Mersey, the boatyards on the Shropshire Union branch and the trade yards round the edge of town, an unusual number of cars here spend their weekends hitched to something. That changes what wears out and how fast.

A car that tows is doing a harder job every mile. The brakes are stopping the car plus whatever is behind it, so pads that would have lasted two years last one. The clutch takes more slip pulling away on a slope with a caravan on the back. The rear suspension sits lower and works harder, the tyres run at a different pressure, and the gearbox oil gets hotter than the maker ever assumed for a car doing the school run.

None of that is a problem if somebody checks it. All of it becomes a problem if nobody does, because a car that tows still gets serviced to the same schedule as a car that never has anything on the back. We look at it differently: pad thickness measured and told to you, rear suspension checked properly, tyre condition and pressures set for a loaded car, and the towbar and its wiring gone over rather than assumed to be fine.

Fastlane Autocare mobile mechanic checking a car that tows at a customer address in Middlewich

The electrics are the part that catches people out. A trailer board that works on one socket and not another, indicators that flash fast the moment the caravan is plugged in, or fridge and charging feeds on a 13-pin socket that were never wired to begin with — those are all wiring faults, and they are all traceable at your address rather than guessed at.

We fit fixed, detachable and swan neck towbars with the correct 7-pin or 13-pin electrics, and we do trailer work as well. If you want the whole thing looked over before a trip, say so when you ring and we will price the towbar and electrics alongside the brakes in one visit rather than two.

When nothing happens

If your car will not start in Middlewich

You do not need to know what is wrong. Tell us what the car did when you turned the key and we will take it from there.

Mobile mechanic Middlewich - car battery tested and fitted at a customer address by Fastlane Autocare

Most cars that will not start are sorted where they are standing, on the same visit. We will ask you a couple of easy things on the phone — what the dashboard did, whether anything made a noise, and whether it has been getting slower to start over the last few weeks. None of that needs any mechanical knowledge; it is just describing what happened.

From there we test rather than guess. A battery gets load tested instead of being replaced on a hunch, the charging system gets checked with the engine running, and if the battery keeps going flat overnight we look for something quietly drawing current while the car is locked. The descriptions below are the ones we hear most often, and each one points us somewhere different.

Silence, and the dashboard stays dark

Nothing lights up at all. That is usually power not reaching the car rather than the engine itself, so we start at the battery and its connections.

One heavy clunk, then nothing more

A single solid thud when you turn the key. We test whether there is enough power getting through before anything gets condemned.

Fast clicking, over and over

A rapid chattering noise. There is some power there but not enough to turn the engine, so the battery and charging both get tested.

It spins over but never fires

The engine turns at a healthy speed and simply does not catch. That points at fuel, spark or a sensor, and the scan tells us which.

It goes on jump leads, then dies overnight

It starts fine with help and is flat again by morning. Once everything is asleep a car should settle to under about 50 milliamps, and we measure it.

The lights dim as you turn the key

The dashboard fades right down while cranking. A battery at rest should sit at 12.6 volts, and under 12.4 it is discharged rather than dead.

Whatever it turns out to be, you get the price before we start. If it is something we can finish at your address you will normally have the car back the same visit, and if it genuinely needs the workshop we will tell you that straight away instead of taking things apart on your drive.

There is more detail on what to do when a car will not start in Middlewich, and on battery testing and replacement if you already suspect that is the cause.

Worth knowing

You can have an MOT done a month early and keep your existing renewal date

If your certificate runs out on the 20th, you can test any time from the 21st of the month before and the new one still runs to the 20th next year. You lose nothing, and you get a month of slack to sort anything that fails.

The town itself

A canal junction town, and a lot of vehicles that work for a living

Middlewich is where the Trent & Mersey, the Shropshire Union branch and the River Dane all come together, and that has shaped what people drive here as much as anything else.

The boat trade brings cars that tow, cars that carry, and cars that sit unused for a fortnight while their owners are out on the water — and a car left standing for two weeks in winter is a car that often will not start when its owner comes back. The Folk and Boat weekend fills the town with vehicles doing short, heavy, stop-start trips, which is the hardest kind of driving for brakes and clutches.

Mobile mechanic Middlewich - car being serviced in a workplace car park

Then there is the other Middlewich, out by junction 18, where the distribution sheds sit. Shift patterns there are long and awkward, and a car parked up for eight or nine hours is a car we can service, fault-find or fit brakes to without anybody losing a day's pay. We are as happy working in a warehouse car park with the owner's permission as we are on a drive in Kinderton.

Short local hops are their own problem too. A diesel that only ever does a few miles round town never gets hot enough to clear its filter properly, which is why so many of them eventually put a light on. That is a real fault with a legal repair, and it is covered on our DPF page along with engine carbon cleaning.

The other half of the job

What happens when a job needs the wheels off the ground

Some work simply cannot be done well on a driveway, and being honest about which is which is the whole point of having a workshop as well as vans.

Clutches and gearboxes need the car properly supported and the box dropped out, so those come in to us. Welding is done in house on our own ramps. Anything structural underneath, and anything where the car has to be lifted and held safely for a long stretch, belongs in a bay rather than at the kerb.

An MOT is the clearest example. A test legally has to happen at an approved centre, so we collect the car, test it at ours, and bring it back to you. You get the certificate without rearranging your day around it, and if something fails we can quote the repair on the spot rather than sending you off to arrange it separately.

The details on each of those are on the clutch repair, gearbox repairs and MOT testing pages. If it is a works vehicle rather than a family car, fleet and commercial repairs covers how we handle vans and trade vehicles.

Getting somebody to you

How soon can somebody be with you in Middlewich?

We have vans covering every corner of Cheshire, with one working Middlewich and the villages around it. What that means for you is a real answer on the first call rather than a callback later.

Ring in the morning with something urgent and there is usually room the same day. Anything less pressing gets a proper booked slot so you are not sat waiting on a vague window.

Same day, where the diary allows

Breakdowns, flat batteries and cars that will not start get treated as urgent. If we can get to you today we will say so on the phone, and if we cannot we will tell you that too.

Next day with a fixed slot

Brakes, servicing, tyres and diagnostics are normally booked for the following day at a time you pick, so you can plan the rest of your day around it properly.

Saturday mornings, 9am to 12:30pm

Useful if the car is only free at weekends, or if you want it checked over before towing anything anywhere. Weekday hours are 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Whichever it is, the price is settled before anybody sets off. Call 01744 808586 and we will give you a slot and a figure in the same conversation.

The question nobody answers straight

Your warranty stays intact when somebody else services the car

This is the single thing Middlewich drivers ask us about most nervously, and the answer is a lot simpler and a lot better than most people expect.

A manufacturer's warranty stays valid as long as the car is serviced on time, to the maker's schedule, using parts and fluids that meet their specification, and as long as the work is recorded. There is a piece of consumer law — usually called block exemption, which simply means you are free to choose who services your car — that stops a manufacturer insisting the work is done at their own dealer to keep the warranty alive.

So the practical answer is that you can have the car serviced on your own drive, keep the warranty, and keep the service history intact. We use the correct grade of oil and the right filters for your car, we stamp the book, and we update the digital service record where the manufacturer keeps one, so it shows up properly if you sell the car or take it back for a warranty claim later.

The one thing that does cause trouble is a gap. A service done late, or one done and never recorded anywhere, is what actually creates an argument down the line. Book it on time, get it written down, and there is nothing to worry about. Our servicing page lists what is included, and servicing with Payment Assist covers spreading the cost if it lands at an awkward time.

Across Cheshire

Towns near Middlewich our vans also cover

Same prices, same technicians and the same workshop behind all of them.

The villages either side of Middlewich are covered from the same diary even where they do not have a page of their own — Byley, Sproston, Cledford, Newton, Warmingham, Moston and Stanthorne all get the same service. If you are closer to Northwich or Winsford, those pages cover what we do there, and our Cheshire page explains how coverage works across the county as a whole.

Where we end up parked

The parts of Middlewich we get called out to most

Different corners of the town throw up different jobs, and after a while a pattern shows up in the diary.

Nothing here changes the price. It is simply what tends to be waiting for us when we arrive, and it is worth knowing if you are trying to work out whether your problem is a common one.

Kinderton and the town centre

Older housing, on-street parking and a lot of short journeys. Batteries that never fully charge and brakes that corrode from standing are the two regulars here.

Cledford and Newton

Newer estates with driveways, which makes them straightforward to work on. Servicing, brakes and tyres, usually booked in advance rather than as an emergency.

King Street and the trading estates

Vans and trade vehicles that cannot afford a day off the road. We work round them, and fleet jobs get booked so the vehicle is only still for as long as the work takes.

The wharf and the marinas

Cars that tow, cars that sit unused for weeks, and towbar electrics that stopped working since last season. Plenty of battery and wiring work.

Byley and Sproston

Country lanes, hedge cuttings and the punctures that come with them. One street can be twenty minutes from the next out here, which is why we fit tyres where the car is.

The junction 18 warehouses

Long shifts and full car parks. With the site's permission we service and repair cars while their owners are working, which saves taking a day off.

If your part of town is not on this list it makes no difference at all — ring 01744 808586 and we will book you in the same way. For work vehicles, fleet and commercial repairs is the page to read.

Straight answers

The questions Middlewich drivers ring up and ask

Twenty of them, answered properly rather than in one line. If yours is not here, ring and ask.

How much does a mobile mechanic cost in Middlewich?

A mobile mechanic in Middlewich costs nothing to ask, because you are given one firm figure before anyone sets off — the call-out, the labour and the parts added together and agreed on the phone, so the number you hear first is the number you pay.

The call-out covers coming out to you and finding the fault. Labour covers the work itself. Parts are quoted individually, so you can see exactly what you are paying for rather than being handed a single lump sum with no breakdown.

Prices vary by car, which is why we ask for the registration first. It tells us the engine, the brake sizes and the battery type, and that is the difference between a real quote and a guess that changes when we arrive.

Ring 01744 808586 for a figure on your car, or read how much a mobile mechanic costs for the full breakdown of what goes into a price.

Can you repair my Ford at my house in Middlewich?

Ford repairs are done at your address in Middlewich as a matter of routine, from Fiestas and Focuses to Transits and Rangers, covering servicing, brakes, batteries, diagnostics and the wet belt work that a lot of the smaller EcoBoost petrol engines eventually need as they age.

We read Ford's own fault codes with equipment that talks to every module, not just the engine, so an ABS or body fault shows up as clearly as a misfire does.

The wet belt is worth knowing about. It is a cambelt that runs inside the engine oil, and as it ages it sheds material that can block the oil pick-up strainer, which is an expensive thing to leave alone.

There is more on wet belt symptoms and which cars have a wet belt, and Transits and other work vehicles are covered on fleet repairs.

Can you fix a Vauxhall in Middlewich without going to a main dealer?

Vauxhall servicing and repairs are done at your address in Middlewich, and having the work done away from a main dealer does not affect your warranty as long as the car is serviced on schedule with the correct parts and the work is properly recorded.

Corsas, Astras, Insignias, Mokkas and Vivaros all come up regularly. We service them to Vauxhall's own schedule, use oil of the grade the engine actually calls for, and stamp the book. Many of these engines take a low-viscosity oil to a specific manufacturer approval, and using a generic equivalent is exactly the kind of thing that causes trouble at claim time.

We also update the digital service record where one exists, so the history is there in the system rather than only in the book on your passenger seat. That matters when you come to sell it.

Our servicing page sets out what is included, and diagnostics covers what happens when a warning light is the reason you are ringing.

Can you work on a Hyundai in Middlewich?

Hyundais are serviced and repaired at Middlewich addresses regularly, including the i10, i20, i30, Tucson and Kona, and that covers the hybrid and fully electric versions as well because our technicians hold IMI Level 4 for high-voltage work, the qualification needed to work on those systems safely.

Hyundai's longer warranty makes people nervous about going elsewhere, but servicing to the maker's schedule with the right parts keeps it intact, and we record the work so there is no argument later.

On the hybrids and EVs the common jobs are not what people expect. Tyres wear faster because of the weight, and brake calipers can seize precisely because regenerative braking means the friction brakes get used so little. On the i10 and i20 the more routine faults are ordinary ones: batteries, brakes and suspension, all of which we do on the drive.

EV and hybrid diagnostics in Middlewich covers the high-voltage side, and servicing covers the routine work.

Can you do Land Rover repairs and fault finding in Middlewich?

Land Rover and Range Rover fault finding is done at Middlewich addresses, and it is worth doing properly because these are heavily built vehicles with a lot of separate control modules, so a single symptom on the dashboard can have several completely different causes behind it.

We scan every module rather than just the engine, then test the circuit or component the code points at before anything is replaced. On these vehicles guessing gets expensive very quickly.

Brakes are the other regular. A large four-wheel drive that also tows is working its brakes hard, and pads that start around 10 to 12mm can be down to the 3mm mark well inside a year. Air suspension is the other thing worth checking early, because a compressor working harder than it should is usually warning you about a leak somewhere in the system.

Ring 01744 808586 to talk it through, or read more on car diagnostics and brake repairs.

Will having my car serviced by a mobile mechanic void my warranty?

Your warranty stays intact, provided the car is serviced at the intervals your manufacturer sets, using parts and fluids that meet their specification, and provided each service is recorded. Consumer law gives you the right to choose who carries the work out, not the dealer.

The rule is often called block exemption, which is a legal term that simply means you are free to have your car serviced wherever you like without losing the manufacturer's cover.

What does cause problems is a missing record. A service that happened but was never stamped or logged is the thing that creates an argument at claim time, so we stamp the book and update the digital record. The one exception people forget is a repair carried out under warranty itself, which still has to go through the manufacturer's own network.

Our car servicing page lists exactly what is done and what is recorded, and servicing with Payment Assist covers spreading the cost.

Can you service a car that tows a caravan or a trailer in Middlewich?

A car that tows gets serviced differently, because it is doing a harder job every mile. We check brake pad thickness, rear suspension, tyre condition and pressures, and gearbox oil condition, rather than working through a checklist written for a car that never pulls anything.

Middlewich has a lot of these, between the marinas and the trade yards. The wear pattern is consistent: brakes and clutch go first, then the rear suspension, then the tyres on the back axle.

Pads start at roughly 10 to 12mm when new and want replacing by about 3mm. On a car that tows regularly that can be a year rather than two, so measuring them rather than eyeballing them matters.

We do trailer work as well as towbars. See towbar fitting, or ring 01744 808586 and we will price the service and the towing check together.

Can you fit or repair a towbar and its electrics in Middlewich?

Towbars are supplied and fitted at Middlewich addresses in fixed, detachable and swan neck types, with either 7-pin or 13-pin electrics wired in correctly, and we also trace faults on towbar wiring that was fitted by somebody else and has never quite worked properly.

The difference between the two sockets matters. A 7-pin socket runs the trailer lights only. A 13-pin adds the permanent live and charging feeds a caravan needs for its fridge and leisure battery.

Fast-flashing indicators the moment you plug in, a fridge that will not run off the car, or a trailer board that works on one vehicle but not another are all wiring faults, and all of them are traceable where the car is parked.

There is more on towbar fitting, and if the fault turns out to be in the car's own wiring rather than the towbar, auto electrical repairs covers that.

My brakes feel different since I started towing — can you check them where the car is parked?

Brakes are checked and replaced where the car is standing, and a change in how they feel after you start towing is worth taking seriously, because the brakes are now stopping the weight of the car plus everything behind it on every journey you make.

A soft or longer pedal, a squeal that was not there before, or a shudder through the pedal when you slow from speed are the three we hear most. Each points somewhere different.

We measure the pads rather than glance at them. New pads are around 10 to 12mm and want changing at about 3mm, and discs have a minimum thickness stamped on them that we check against too. A disc worn below its stamped minimum has to be replaced rather than skimmed, because there is not enough metal left to absorb the heat safely.

The work is done at your address in most cases. See brake pads and discs, or brake repairs for the fuller picture.

Can I get an MOT in Middlewich if I cannot get the car there myself?

An MOT test legally has to happen at an approved centre, so we collect the car from your Middlewich address, test it at our own DVSA-approved centre on Boundary Road, and bring it back to you with the certificate, without you having to rearrange your day around it.

If it passes, that is the end of it. If something fails, we can quote the repair straight away and get it done rather than handing you a list to take somewhere else.

Worth knowing: you can test up to a month early and keep your existing renewal date. If yours expires on the 20th, testing from the 21st of the month before still gives you a certificate running to the 20th next year.

Our MOT testing page explains what is checked, and vehicle recovery covers cars that are not driveable at all.

Can you do a full car service on my driveway in Middlewich?

A full service is done on your driveway in Middlewich in a normal visit — oil and filter, air and cabin filters, spark plugs where they are due, fluid levels topped up, brakes inspected and measured, tyres checked, and the whole car looked over and reported back to you.

We take the old oil away with us. Nothing is left on your drive, and the car is finished and usable when we go rather than waiting on anything. We carry oil to the grade your engine takes rather than a general purpose one, along with the filters for your specific model, so nothing is substituted on the day.

The service book gets stamped and the digital record updated where the manufacturer keeps one. That keeps the history complete, which protects both your warranty and what the car is worth when you sell it.

There is a breakdown on the car servicing page, and you can spread the cost with Payment Assist servicing if the timing is awkward.

My car will not start in Middlewich — can somebody come out today?

Cars that will not start are treated as urgent, and there is usually room the same day if you ring in the morning. Tell us what happened when you turned the key and we can often work out the likely cause before setting off.

You do not need to know what is wrong. Whether it was silent, clicked quickly, clunked once or spun over without firing is enough for us to know what to bring. It also tells us whether to expect a battery job or a fault-finding job, which changes how long we set aside for it.

We test rather than swap parts. A battery gets load tested, the charging system checked with the engine running — it should show 13.8 to 14.6 volts — and if it goes flat overnight we look for a current draw that should be under about 50 milliamps.

Ring 01744 808586, or read what to do when your car will not start in Middlewich.

Can you fit a car battery at my house in Middlewich?

Batteries are supplied and fitted at your Middlewich address, usually within twenty to thirty minutes of arriving. The old battery is tested first so you are not paying to replace something that was only flat, and the old one is taken away and recycled.

A healthy battery reads about 12.6 volts at rest. Under 12.4 it is discharged rather than finished, and that difference is worth knowing before anyone sells you a new one.

Most cars built after roughly 2010 need the new battery coding to the car, so the charging system knows it is dealing with a fresh battery. Skipping that step shortens the life of the replacement. Stop-start cars usually need a particular type of battery as well, either AGM or EFB, which are heavier-duty types built to cope with the engine restarting at every set of lights, and an ordinary battery fitted in place of one will not last.

See battery replacement, or car will not start in Middlewich if you are not sure the battery is the problem.

How much is mobile tyre fitting in Middlewich?

Mobile tyre fitting in Middlewich is priced per tyre, quoted on your registration and tyre size before we come out, with fitting, balancing, a new valve and disposal of the old tyre included in the figure you are given, so nothing is added on afterwards.

We fit at homes, kerbsides and workplaces, and we carry a range of budget, mid-range and premium tyres. If you are towing, tyre condition on the back axle matters more than most people realise.

The legal minimum tread is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, but wet grip starts dropping off noticeably below 3mm. That is the point at which it is worth planning a replacement rather than waiting. Tyres also age whether they are used or not, and the four-digit code on the sidewall tells you the week and year yours were made.

See mobile tyre fitting, and pay monthly tyres if a full set has landed at a bad time.

Can you change brake pads and discs where the car is parked in Middlewich?

Pads and discs are changed where the car is parked in Middlewich, on a drive, at a kerb or in a work car park, provided the ground is reasonably level and there is room to get the wheels off safely and work around the car.

We measure what is left rather than estimating. Pads are around 10 to 12mm when new and want replacing by about 3mm, and discs carry a minimum thickness figure that we check them against.

You are told the measurements before anything is replaced. If the pads have life left in them we will say so, and we would rather book you back in later than change parts that are still doing their job.

See brake pads and discs for what is included, or brake repairs if there is a noise or a feel you cannot place.

Can you work on an electric or hybrid car in Middlewich?

Electric and hybrid cars are worked on at Middlewich addresses because our technicians hold IMI Level 4, the qualification required to work safely on high-voltage systems. That covers servicing, diagnostics, brakes, tyres and fault finding on the high-voltage side itself, not just the ordinary jobs.

The jobs that come up are not the ones people expect. EVs are heavy and wear tyres faster than an equivalent petrol car, so tread depth needs watching more closely.

Brakes are the opposite problem. Regenerative braking slows the car using the motor, so the friction brakes get used so little that the calipers seize from lack of movement. Servicing them is about freeing them off, not replacing worn pads. Cabin filters and brake fluid still need doing to schedule on an EV, which is the part owners are most often surprised by.

EV and hybrid diagnostics in Middlewich covers the high-voltage work, and mobile tyre fitting covers the tyres.

A warning light has come on — what should I do about it?

Get it read before you do anything else, because the same light can mean half a dozen different things. A scan tells us which module logged the fault and what conditions it happened under, and that is what turns a light into an actual answer.

Colour is the quick guide. Red generally means stop when it is safe to do so. Amber means get it looked at soon rather than immediately. If a light is flashing rather than steady, treat it as the more urgent version.

We read every module, not just the engine, then test the component the code points at before replacing anything. A fault code names a circuit; it does not name the part that has failed, and the difference is what stops you paying twice.

Ring 01744 808586 and describe what the light looks like, or read more about car diagnostics.

Can you come out to a works car park or a yard around Middlewich?

We work in workplace car parks and yards around Middlewich all the time, including the distribution sites near junction 18, as long as you have the site's permission for us to be there and there is room to work safely around the vehicle while it is parked.

For a lot of people this is the easiest option. A shift is long enough for a service, a set of brakes, a battery or a diagnostic scan, and you get in the car afterwards and drive home.

You do not need to be stood there while we work, as long as we can get the keys and reach you if something needs a decision. Most of the time there is nothing to decide, because the price was agreed beforehand.

Work vehicles are covered on fleet and commercial repairs, and ordinary servicing is on the servicing page.

Can I spread the cost of a car repair in Middlewich over a few months?

Repairs can be spread over three, four or six months at 0% through Payment Assist. It uses a soft credit search for amounts up to £1,000, which means checking whether you qualify does not leave a mark on your credit file at all.

To use it you need to be 18 or over, a UK resident, and paying by debit card in your own name. It has to be arranged before the invoice is settled, so mention it when you book rather than afterwards.

There is no interest at all across the three, four or six month options. What you owe is the repair price divided by the number of months, and nothing is added for the privilege of spreading it.

There is a full explanation on pay monthly car repairs, and tyre finance if it is a set of tyres rather than a repair.

What are your opening hours, and do you cover Byley, Sproston and Cledford as well as Middlewich?

We are open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5pm and Saturday mornings from 9am to 12:30pm, and the villages around Middlewich are covered from the same diary — Byley, Sproston, Cledford, Newton, Warmingham, Moston and Stanthorne included, at the same prices as the town itself.

There is no different rate for a village address. The price depends on the car and the job, not on which side of Middlewich you happen to live, or how narrow the lane is.

Saturday mornings are useful if the car is only free at weekends, or if you want a towing check done before a trip. Booking ahead is worth it, because that slot fills quickly. We take Saturday work by appointment rather than as it comes, so ringing during the week is the way to get one.

If you are nearer to Northwich, Winsford or Sandbach, those pages cover what we do there, and Cheshire covers the county.

Before you ring

Three things that get you a price on the first call

None of these need any mechanical knowledge. They are just the things that let us quote properly instead of saying we will have to come and look.

The registration

It tells us the engine, the brake sizes, the battery type and the oil the car takes. Without it we are pricing a car like yours rather than your car.

What the car did, in your own words

Not what you think is wrong — what actually happened. A noise, a light, a smell, a pedal that felt different. That is plenty to go on.

Where the car is parked

On the drive, at the kerb, in a shared entry or in a work car park. It tells us what we can do on the spot and what needs collecting.

With those three things we can normally give you a firm figure and a slot in the same phone call, and you can decide there and then whether to book it.
