In Knowsley the car is how you get anywhere, so we come to the car
A car off the road in Knowsley Village usually means somebody is genuinely stuck, not just inconvenienced. Send us the registration and where it's parked — drive, kerb or works car park — and we'll confirm the call-out, labour and parts as three separate figures before anything's touched.
Give us your reg. We send a straight figure back.
Nothing to fill in twice and no waiting for a callback. Put the registration in, say what the car needs, and press send. WhatsApp opens with the message already written and somebody in the workshop reads it.
- ✓When your MOT runs out, looked up off the reg so you are not going by memory.
- ✓A figure for your car, not a bracket with the word “from” in front of it.
- ✓The next slot we can reach Knowsley, Saturday mornings included.
- ✓Read by the people who do the work. No call centre in the middle.

Mobile mechanic Knowsley · What we can do for you
Mobile mechanic Knowsley: where we will meet you, and what turns up
Knowsley is really two places at once, and a car breaks down differently in each of them.
One is Knowsley Village: a few hundred houses, a primary school and a shop, wrapped in the Earl of Derby’s parkland with the motorway humming past the edge of it. Almost every household here runs on a car because there is no other sensible way to get to work, and a car that will not start on a Tuesday morning is not an inconvenience, it is the whole day gone.
The other is Knowsley Industrial Park, one of the biggest working estates in the north west, where thousands of cars and vans stand in the same bay from clocking on until clocking off. Getting to those is easy enough; getting onto the site sometimes is not, which is why we ask about gatehouses and sign-in before we set off rather than after.

Our vans carry the working half of a garage. Fault-code equipment that speaks to the individual control modules rather than reading a light off the dashboard, a battery and charging tester that loads the battery properly, jacks and axle stands, torque wrenches, brake tooling, a tyre machine and balancer, oils, filters and the consumables for the cars we see most weeks.
What will not fit in a van is a four-post ramp. That is why there is a workshop and a DVSA-approved test centre at Boundary Road standing behind the mobile side rather than competing with it. You are not choosing between a van that only does easy jobs and a garage that keeps your car all day — you get whichever suits the fault, and the same technicians either way. A diagnostic scan or a full service starts where you park; only the lifting jobs move.
Mobile mechanic Knowsley · Numbers worth knowing
Six figures that settle most of the arguments
The measurements behind a lot of what we end up telling people on the phone.
Mobile mechanic Knowsley · Done where you park
Six jobs we finish in the spot the car is already in
All six get signed off at your address in Knowsley. The heavier work is collected, put on a ramp and brought back to you.

Warning lights and fault codes
We read the modules and the live data, not just the light on the dash. A code names a circuit rather than a broken part, so nobody buys anything until the evidence says so.
Car diagnostics
Batteries and charging
Load-tested before a word is said about selling one, with the alternator checked in the same visit. From the driver’s seat a tired battery and a dying alternator feel identical.
Car battery replacement
Brakes
Pads, discs, fluid and the noises that arrive first. Measured with a gauge rather than eyeballed, torqued to the maker’s figure and bedded in before we drive away.
Brake repairs
Servicing at your address
Oil to the grade your engine actually asks for, the filters the schedule calls for, and a proper look round the levels, tyres and lights. The book gets stamped.
Car servicing
Tyres and punctures
The balancer comes with us, so the wheel goes back on finished. Repairable punctures get a plug and patch from the inside, which is the only repair that counts as legal.
Mobile tyre fitting
Electrical faults and drains
Earths, connectors, sensors and the ones that only misbehave when the car is cold. Chasing those takes sitting time, which is easier on your drive than in a workshop queue.
Mobile car repairMobile mechanic Knowsley · Tyres brought to you
Flat tyre outside the house, or stuck in a bay at work?
Read the size off the sidewall, send it with your postcode, and you get a price and a slot back. We bring the balancer, so the wheel is finished before we leave. If the timing is awkward there is pay monthly tyres and tyre finance.
Mobile mechanic Knowsley · What it costs
What you pay, and when you find it out
Three figures, handed over one at a time before anything is agreed: the call-out, the labour and the parts.
Keeping them apart is the whole point. A single total tells you nothing about whether it is fair, because you cannot see which part of it is heavy. Split into three, you can look at each one on its own and decide, and you can say no to any of it while the car is still in one piece.
Labour is set against the job rather than a clock on the wall. A bolt that has rusted solid or a caliper that refuses to come apart costs us the afternoon; it does not appear on your invoice as extra hours. The number you were given is the number you pay.

Parts come with a real choice wherever one exists. Now and again the manufacturer’s own part is genuinely the right answer and we will say so out loud; far more often a good quality equivalent does exactly the same work for noticeably less. You get told which is which and you pick, instead of one figure landing on the bill with the decision already made.
The only thing that moves the price is finding a different fault to the one we were called for, and at that point everything stops and you get a phone call with the new number. If paying it in one go is the problem, mention it in the first conversation — spreading it over three, four or six months at 0% is easy enough, but it has to be set up before the invoice is settled. What a mobile mechanic costs goes through it job by job.

Want the numbers before you commit to anything?
Tell us the car, what it is doing, and whether it will be at home or at work. Three figures come back before a slot is held.
Mobile mechanic Knowsley · If it will not start
If your car will not start in Knowsley
You do not need to name the fault. Tell us what the car did the moment the key turned.

It is the call we take more than any other, and it is far less mysterious than it feels standing on a cold drive at ten to eight. A car that will not start does one of a handful of things, and each one sends us somewhere different before we have even opened the bonnet.
So describe it in whatever words come out. Naming a part you have read about online is the one thing that genuinely slows it down, because a guess gets the wrong component loaded that morning. Most of these end up being the battery or the charging system, and both get measured on the spot rather than assumed. Where it turns out to be the starter, the immobiliser or fuelling, you get the finding first and the diagnosis is priced separately, so nothing is fitted on a hunch.
You turn the key and the car just sits there
No lights, no click, nothing at all. That is power not reaching anything — a flat battery, a furred terminal or a poor earth — and it is usually the quickest of the lot to put right.
One thud from under the bonnet, then nothing
Power is arriving but the engine is not turning. Often the solenoid, sometimes the starter motor itself, occasionally just a tired connection feeding it.
A fast rattle, over and over
Almost always a battery with nothing left in it. We test the battery and the charging system together, because a good battery on a failing alternator does exactly this again next week.
It turns over all day and never catches
Now it is fuel, spark or timing, which is a diagnostic job rather than a parts job. We price the diagnosis on its own so you are not agreeing to anything blind.
It starts, runs for a second or two, then stops
Usually fuelling, or the immobiliser not recognising the key properly. It sounds alarming and is often one of the cheaper things on this list.
Fine on jump leads, flat again by morning
It is holding nothing overnight. Either the battery is finished or something is drawing current while the car sleeps, and those are two completely different repairs.
A word on batteries, because it saves people money. At rest a healthy one sits around 12.6 volts, and much under 12.4 means discharged rather than dead. With the engine running the charging system should read between 13.8 and 14.6 volts. We test both before anything is sold, because putting a new battery on a failing alternator buys a fortnight and no more. More in car will not start and battery replacement.
Mobile mechanic Knowsley · Worth knowing
A car that only does the school run and the shop is working harder than it looks
Village driving is nearly all short journeys. Down to the shop, over to the school, a few minutes on the motorway and off again. The engine barely gets warm, the oil never gets hot enough to boil off the moisture it picks up, and on a diesel the filter never reaches the temperature it needs to clear itself out. It is why a car with low mileage often needs more looking after than one doing thirty thousand a year, and why “it has hardly been used” is not the reassurance people think it is.
Mobile mechanic Knowsley · Servicing and brakes
Servicing and brakes without losing the only car in the house
The two jobs people leave longest are the two that need the car least.
A service slips down the list because the appointment always lands on the morning you needed the car for something else. In a village where there is no quick alternative to driving, handing the keys over for a day is a genuine problem rather than a mild nuisance. Doing it on the drive while the car would have been sitting there anyway takes the whole obstacle away.

What you get is a full service, not a quick oil change with a nice name. Oil to the specification your engine actually calls for rather than a generic grade out of whatever drum was nearest, oil and air filters, pollen and fuel filters where the schedule says so, then a proper look over the levels, the tyres, the lights and anything showing early wear. It is written down and the book gets stamped, so the history holds up when you come to sell.
If the car is still inside its manufacturer warranty, none of that puts the cover at risk. Block exemption rules mean a warranty stands as long as the car is serviced to the maker’s schedule with parts of the right specification, whoever does the work. Plenty of drivers pay dealer prices for years because nobody has told them that plainly.
Brakes are ordinary driveway work too. Pads and discs measured rather than guessed, torqued to figure and bedded in before we leave, with the remaining thickness given to you in millimetres so next time you know whether you are close to the limit or nowhere near it. Electronic parking brakes are wound back electronically instead of forced, which is what wrecks them. See brake pads and discs.
Mobile mechanic Knowsley · Jobs that need the ramp
The jobs that need a ramp rather than a driveway
Some work needs the wheels off the ground. That is not a refusal — it means we collect the car and do it properly.
Clutches and flywheels, timing belts and wet belts, gearbox internals, welding and anything wanting the weight off the suspension all belong over a pit or on a ramp. So does an MOT, because the test legally has to happen at an approved centre on approved equipment. Anyone offering a mobile MOT is describing something that is not an MOT.
Ours is at Boundary Road: our own workshop with a DVSA-approved test centre on site. We collect the car, do the work and bring it back, and the collection is part of the job rather than one more thing for you to arrange around a school run. See clutch repair, gearbox repairs and MOT testing.
Welding, bodywork, panel repair and AdBlue system work are all done in house rather than handed to somebody else, so ask rather than assuming they are off the list. Vehicles working out of the industrial park are covered too, through fleet repairs, and the Knowsley garage page covers the workshop side in full.
Not sure it can be done where the car is standing?
Send the make, model, what it is doing and your Knowsley postcode on WhatsApp. You get a straight answer on whether it finishes where it is or genuinely needs the ramp — and what each one would cost.
Mobile mechanic Knowsley · How soon we can get to you
Can somebody get out to Knowsley today?
Very often yes. What decides it is what the car needs, not where you are.
Reaching you is rarely the thing that holds a job up. Whether we already have the part on board is.
Often the same afternoon
Batteries, punctures, tyres, no-starts, warning lights and most electrical faults. Ring before late morning and there is usually a slot left the same day.
Usually the day after
Brakes, servicing and anything with a part ordered against your registration. We would sooner arrive tomorrow with the right component than today with a hopeful one.
Booked in with a proper slot
Clutches, cambelts, welding, gearbox work and MOTs. These get a time at Boundary Road, and collecting and returning the car is part of the job.
What we try never to do is hand you a four-hour window and hope for the best. If something ahead of you overruns, you get a message saying so rather than standing at the window. Workshop hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am–5pm and Saturday 9am–12:30pm, and Saturday mornings go first every week.

Break up a bill that nobody saw coming
Anything on this page can go over 3, 4 or 6 months at 0% interest. Up to £1,000 it is a soft credit search, so asking leaves nothing on your file.
Mobile mechanic Knowsley · Why we quote first
Why the price is agreed before we set off
Standing next to an open bonnet is the worst moment anybody ever has to talk about money.
Most people have had a version of it. Somebody looks the car over, confirms roughly what you already feared, and the figure arrives while you are stood there with the wheel off and no realistic way to say you want to think it over. Nobody decides well in that position, and we would rather not put anyone in it.
Agreeing it first works for both sides. You hear the number before anything happens to the car, and you can say no at no cost. We know exactly what the job is, so the right parts get loaded and enough time gets booked to finish it in one go rather than coming back.
Where the fault genuinely is not known yet, the diagnosis is priced on its own. You are paying to find out what is actually wrong, and then you decide what happens next. Nothing is ordered and nothing is fitted before you have heard what is involved and said carry on. Ring 01744 808586 and you will get the figures before a date is even discussed.

The village, the industrial park, and every town in the borough on exactly the same terms.
Stockbridge Village, Cronton, Tarbock and Roby have no page of their own yet, but the vans cover them all the same — give us the postcode and we will tell you the next slot.
Mobile mechanic Knowsley · Out and about in Knowsley
Where we usually end up working in Knowsley
Cars never break down somewhere convenient. These are the spots we get called to most, and what is normally behind it.

Knowsley is unusual in that the quietest part of it and one of the busiest working estates in the north west sit almost next door to each other. The village is a few hundred houses with parkland on nearly every side; a mile or so away there are thousands of vehicles standing in yards and bays, and lorries moving between them all day. The faults we see reflect that split almost perfectly.
Village cars tend to do very little and suffer for it. Estate and works vehicles do a great deal and wear out the parts you would expect. And running between the two is the motorway, which produces a third pattern again — tyres, brakes and belts rather than batteries and blocked filters.
Knowsley Village and the lanes off Knowsley Lane
Short journeys and long spells parked up. Batteries that go flat every cold snap and diesel filters that never get hot enough to clear are the pattern here.
Gatehouses and sign-in on the industrial park
Plenty of sites want a name in advance or a permit at the barrier. Tell us the unit and how visitors get in, and none of it slows the job down.
Yards and units around Kitling Road
Working vans doing drops all week. Rear tyres, brakes and clutches wear at a rate that surprises people who only ever drove a car.
The Safari Park car park on a family day out
A car packed with kids that will not start at going-home time is a miserable position. It is a call we get, and usually a battery.
The M57 at junctions 2 and 3
Motorway miles show up as tyres, brakes and belts instead of town faults. If you commute out daily your car wears nothing like your neighbour’s.
Cars that sit from Friday night to Monday
A weekend of standing still is enough to catch out a battery that was already borderline. Monday morning is our busiest phone of the week for exactly that reason.
Wherever the car is, we come to it, and Boundary Road picks up anything needing lifting. If you are closer to Huyton, Kirkby, Prescot or Whiston, those pages cover the same service nearer home.
Mobile mechanic Knowsley · FAQs
The questions Knowsley drivers ask us most
The ones that come up on the phone from around the village and the industrial park.
Yes — our vans carry the tyres, the fitting machine and the wheel balancer, so a new tyre goes on and is balanced properly at your address in Knowsley Village or on the industrial park, and the wheel comes off the jack finished rather than needing a second trip.
Send the size moulded into the sidewall, the string that reads something like 205/55R16 91V, plus your postcode and whether the car is on a drive, at the kerb or in a works car park.
A puncture does not always mean buying a tyre. Damage in the middle three quarters of the tread, under 6mm across, can be repaired from the inside with a combined plug and patch. Sidewall damage never can.
Legal minimum tread is 1.6mm, though wet grip drops away badly below 3mm, so we measure and give you the real figure. See mobile tyre fitting.
Yes. Fastlane Autocare runs vans across the North West with one covering Knowsley, and behind them sits a real workshop with ramps and a DVSA-approved MOT test centre, so the light jobs are finished where you park and the heavy ones are collected, lifted and brought back.
That pairing is the useful part, because a ramp job does not have to go anywhere else and you are not without the car for a day. You get whichever suits the fault.
The same technicians work the bays and come out to customers, so nothing is passed between strangers and nobody arrives without knowing what the previous person found.
Our Knowsley garage page covers the workshop side, and you can ring 01744 808586 to be told which of the two your car actually needs. We are AA and RAC approved, and the test centre is DVSA-registered.
An MOT has to happen at an approved test centre, because the law requires the test to be done on approved equipment at a registered site — there is no such thing as a mobile MOT. Ours is at Boundary Road in St Helens, and we collect your car and return it.
Collection is part of the job rather than something else for you to arrange, which matters if the household runs on one car and nobody can spare a morning to sit in a waiting room.
You can present a car up to a month minus a day before the current certificate expires and keep your existing renewal date, so an early test costs you nothing in cover.
If anything fails, you get the reason and a price before work starts. See MOT St Helens or MOT Prescot for what the test covers.
You are given three separate figures before anything is booked: the call-out, the labour and the parts. Kept apart, you can see exactly which one is doing the damage and say yes or no to the job with your eyes open, rather than staring at one lump sum.
Labour is priced against the job rather than a running clock. A seized bolt or a caliper that fights us costs us the afternoon, not you the extra hour.
Parts come with a choice where a genuine choice exists. Sometimes the manufacturer's own part is the sensible answer and we will say so; often a quality equivalent does the same work for noticeably less.
The only thing that moves the figure is finding a genuinely different fault, and then we stop and ring you first. How much a mobile mechanic costs breaks it down by job.
Ring us and describe what the car does when you turn the key, in whatever words come out. Silence, one heavy clunk, fast clicking or plenty of spinning with no firing all point somewhere different, and that single sentence usually decides what gets loaded into our vans before anyone sets off.
You are not expected to know what is wrong. Naming a part you have read about online tends to send us out with the wrong thing, so plain description beats a guess every time.
Most of these end up being the battery or the alternator, and both get measured before anything is sold. A battery at rest should sit near 12.6 volts; under 12.4 it is discharged, not dead.
Ring 01744 808586 and we will tell you what it sounds like. Car will not start goes through each symptom properly.
Yes, and it is one of the easiest places for us to work because the car sits in the same spot all day. Tell us the unit or the company name, whether there is a gatehouse, and whether visitors have to sign in, and we will arrive set up for it.
Some sites want a name in advance, some want hi-vis and boots, and a few will not let anyone through without a permit. None of that is a problem at all, provided we know before the morning of the visit rather than at the barrier itself.
Work gets done in the bay the car is already parked in, so you go in at eight, come out at five and the job is finished in between without you losing a day.
Company cars and multi-drop vans are handled the same way; see fleet repairs if several vehicles need doing on one visit.
We service cars at your address and it does not affect a manufacturer warranty. Block exemption rules mean that as long as the car is serviced to the maker's schedule using parts of the correct specification, the warranty stands wherever the work is carried out, and the book still gets stamped.
A great many drivers believe otherwise and pay dealer money for years because of it. It is simply not how the rules work, and we would rather say so plainly than let it go unmentioned.
A service at your door is a full one: oil to the grade your engine actually specifies, oil and air filters, pollen and fuel filters where the schedule calls for them, then a proper look round.
What went in gets written down, so the history stands up at resale. See car servicing for what each level includes.
Pads and discs are ordinary driveway work and get finished where the car stands. Everything is measured rather than guessed, torqued to the manufacturer's figure and bedded in before we leave, and you are told the remaining thickness in millimetres so you know where you stand next time.
New pads start around 10 to 12mm of friction material and are worn out at 3mm. Knowing your actual number turns the next conversation from a sales pitch into arithmetic.
Discs get measured too. They have a minimum thickness stamped on the hub face, and a disc below it has to be replaced rather than skimmed, whatever else is going on.
Brake fluid absorbs water over time and wants changing about every two years, because wet fluid boils under heavy braking and the pedal goes soft. Electronic parking brakes are wound back electronically rather than forced. Brake repairs covers pads, discs and fluid.
Often the same day. What decides it is almost never getting to you — it is whether we already carry the part. Batteries, tyres, punctures, no-starts and warning lights are usually same day, while brakes, servicing and anything needing a part ordered to your registration tend to be the following day.
Ringing before late morning gives you the best chance of a same-day slot, and Saturday mornings go earliest of all because the workshop is only open nine until half twelve. Weekdays run half eight to five.
What we try never to do is hand you a four-hour window and hope. If a job ahead of yours runs long, you get a message telling you so rather than sitting on the drive wondering whether anyone is coming at all.
Anything needing a ramp is given a proper booked slot and the car is collected. Ring 01744 808586 or read mobile car repair.
Anything that needs the wheels off the ground for a long stretch belongs on a ramp: clutches and flywheels, timing and wet belts, gearbox internals, welding and suspension work. Those jobs are not refused — the car is collected, done properly at Boundary Road, and brought back to you.
MOTs sit in the same category, because a test legally has to be carried out at an approved centre on approved equipment rather than in a driveway.
Everything else is genuinely mobile: diagnostics, batteries and charging, brakes, servicing, tyres, air conditioning and the slow electrical faults that need someone to sit with the car. Between them those make up the large majority of what we get called out for.
Welding, bodywork and AdBlue system repair are all done in house rather than farmed out, so ask instead of assuming. See clutch repair and gearbox repairs.
Usually because the car is doing short, local journeys that never fully replace what starting the engine takes out. A run to the shop and back does not put a charge in, and a battery that spends its life half full ages far faster than the mileage suggests.
A healthy battery at rest reads about 12.6 volts. Under 12.4 it is discharged rather than faulty, and charging it properly often ends the argument without anything being bought.
With the engine running, the charging system should show between 13.8 and 14.6 volts. Outside that band the alternator is the fault, and fitting a new battery buys a fortnight at most.
If it goes flat overnight, something is drawing current while the car sleeps; a settled draw should be under about 50 milliamps. Keyless entry and a tracker can push a car well past that if a module refuses to go to sleep. See battery replacement.
Yes. Our technicians hold IMI Level 4, the qualification required to work safely on high-voltage systems, which means an electric or hybrid car can be properly isolated and worked on rather than looked at and handed back. That qualification is what makes it legal to work on them at all.
Electric cars are heavy and deliver their pull instantly, so tyres wear noticeably faster and shoulders scrub if the pressures drift. Checking them is worth doing more often than on a petrol car.
Brakes go the other way. Regenerative braking does most of the slowing, so the pads barely wear, sit unused and seize in the caliper instead. Servicing the sliders matters more than replacing the friction material.
Servicing, tyres, brakes and diagnostics on an electric car are all done at your address, with the high-voltage side isolated properly rather than avoided. Ring 01744 808586, or see car servicing.
Yes. Our vans carry equipment that talks to the individual control modules rather than simply reading a light off the dashboard, along with live data and the ability to road test. A fault code points at a circuit, not a broken part, so the evidence gets read before anything is bought.
That distinction saves real money. A code naming a sensor is just as often a connector, a wiring break or an earth, and replacing the sensor cures nothing but the invoice.
The diagnosis is priced on its own, separately from any repair. You get the finding and the figure, and you decide what happens next without having agreed to anything in advance.
Deleting or masking a code so a light goes out is illegal on a road car and fails the MOT emissions check outright, so we fix the cause. See car diagnostics.
Yes, over three, four or six months at 0% interest through Payment Assist. On amounts up to a thousand pounds it is a soft credit search, so asking leaves no mark on your file, and it has to be arranged before the invoice is settled rather than afterwards.
You need to be eighteen or over, resident in the UK, and paying with a debit card in your own name. That is the whole list of requirements, and Payment Assist runs the check and the agreement rather than us.
Say so in the first conversation rather than at the end. Once an invoice has been paid it cannot be moved onto the plan retrospectively, and that catches people out.
It covers repairs, servicing, tyres and MOT work alike, and can be set up over the phone while the job is still being booked. See servicing on Payment Assist and tyre finance.
In most cases yes. What we need to know first is simply where the car will be standing and whether there is room to get down one side of it safely, because that decides which jobs can be finished on the spot and which are better collected.
Tell us if the car is against a hedge, on a slope, tight to a wall or boxed in by other vehicles. None of it stops the job, but it changes what gets loaded.
Jacking needs firm, level ground under one corner. Soft verge, loose gravel or a steep camber is the one thing that genuinely moves a job from the roadside to the workshop.
If it will not work where you are, we say so on the phone and collect instead. Ring 01744 808586 with the street and the car, or see mobile car repair for what gets finished on the spot.
Our vans carry the working half of a garage: module-level fault-code equipment, a proper battery and charging tester, trolley jack and axle stands, torque wrenches, brake tooling, a tyre machine and balancer, oils, filters and the consumable parts for the cars we see week in and week out.
What cannot travel is a four-post ramp and the heavy press work that goes with it, which is exactly why the workshop exists behind the mobile side rather than instead of it. A tyre machine and balancer do travel, which is less common than people expect.
Parts are ordered against your registration rather than the model name, because the same badge often covers three different engines and two different brake setups within one production run.
That is why we would rather come tomorrow with the right component than today with a hopeful guess. See what we cover.
Yes. Vans work right across the borough, so Huyton, Kirkby, Prescot, Whiston, Halewood and Stockbridge Village are all covered on the same terms, with the same three figures quoted up front and the same workshop behind them for anything that has to be lifted.
Several of those towns have their own pages with the local detail on them, which is usually more useful than a general one if you live there. They carry the streets, the parking and the faults particular to each place.
Try Huyton, Kirkby or Prescot if you are nearer those than the village, or Whiston and Halewood on the southern side.
Coverage does not change the price. Wherever you are in the borough, the call-out, the labour and the parts are quoted the same way, and the technician who arrives is one of ours rather than a subcontractor.
Yes. Air conditioning loses roughly a tenth of its gas every year simply through the seals, so a system that has never been touched in six or seven years is usually low rather than broken, and a regas at your address puts most of them right in one visit.
Before anything goes in, the system is checked for leaks. Pumping gas into a system that cannot hold it is money poured away, and you would be back within a month. A dye or nitrogen leak test finds the escape point in the same visit.
Running it for ten minutes once a fortnight through winter keeps the compressor seals wet. Systems that sit unused all winter are the ones that fail in the first warm week.
A weak system also demists far more slowly, which is what most people notice first, and a damp system smells musty the moment it is switched on. See air conditioning regas.
Yes, cars and light commercial vehicles alike. Vans working out of the industrial park earn their keep by being on the road, so they are serviced, repaired and MOT-prepared around the working day wherever possible, and collected only when the job genuinely needs lifting.
Servicing a van around a delivery round rather than off it is usually the difference between an hour lost and a whole day. A loaded van wears brakes and tyres far harder than the same vehicle empty, and rear tyres in particular need checking more often than most drivers expect. Ply lining and a permanent load sit on that axle every working day.
If several vehicles are parked in one yard, they can be done on the same visit rather than one at a time across three separate weeks.
Ring 01744 808586 with the registrations and we will work out an order. Fleet repairs covers how it runs.
Three things and the call takes about two minutes: the registration, what the car is doing in your own words, and where it will be parked when we arrive. That is enough to price the job, load the right parts and give you a slot before you put the phone down.
The registration matters most. It gives the exact engine, the correct oil specification and the right part numbers in one go, and it removes the guesswork a model name leaves behind. Two cars wearing the same badge often have three different engines between them.
Describe the symptom plainly. What noise, when it happens, whether it is cold or warm, and what the dashboard is showing beats naming a component you are not sure about.
Where it is parked decides the rest — a drive, the kerb, a shared entry or a works car park each change what gets loaded. Ring 01744 808586 or read what a mobile mechanic costs.

What to have ready when you ring
Three things, and the call is over in about two minutes.
The registration
It gives us the exact engine, the right oil specification and the correct part numbers in one go. Make and model will do if the reg is indoors.
What it is doing, in your own words
What the noise is, when it happens, what the dashboard shows. Describing it plainly beats naming a part — a guess sends us out loaded with the wrong thing.
Where the car will be parked
On the drive, at the kerb, in a shared entry or in a bay at work. It changes what comes with us and how fast we need to be there.
The one thing that does not help is somebody else’s quote. We would rather look at the car in front of us and price the fault we can see than work backwards from a number attached to a different diagnosis.

Send the registration, what the car is doing, and whether it will be on the drive at home, at the kerb or in a bay on the industrial park. Back comes what it needs, the three figures, and the next slot we can reach you in. If it turns out to be something other than we expected once we are there, you get a phone call before a spanner moves.
