Mobile Mechanic Congleton
Congleton sits right under the Cloud and Mow Cop, and a car that climbs that edge every day works its brakes and clutch harder than the mileage lets on. We come to wherever yours is parked, price agreed first.

WHERE THE WORK HAPPENS
Mobile mechanic Congleton: the driveway, the terrace, or the works car park
Congleton is two towns to work in at once. There are the tight terraced streets that grew up around the old silk mills, and there are the wide open driveways out on the newer estates. Both suit us perfectly well.
Around the town centre, and on the streets running off Mill Street and West Road, a lot of houses have no drive at all and the car lives at the kerb. That is not a problem. What matters is that there is room to open a door fully on the side we need, and that the car is not on a slope steep enough to matter. If you are unsure, tell us the street and we will tell you straight away whether it works or whether it is easier to collect the car.
Out at Mossley, Somerford, West Heath and Lower Heath the picture is the opposite — a drive at the house, a level surface, and no timing pressure at all. Those addresses take the bigger jobs comfortably: a full service, brake discs, a battery swap, a diagnostic session that needs the engine running for a while.

The third option people forget is work. Plenty of Congleton drivers leave the car in a car park all day at one of the industrial estates off the Link Road, or over at Radnor Park, and never think to ask. It is often the easiest booking of the lot, because the car is stationary for eight hours and nobody has to rearrange their evening around it.
Whichever it is, the same technicians come out as work the bays. If the job turns out to need the wheels lifted off the ground it goes into our own workshop instead — and you can read what that covers on our car diagnostics and car servicing pages. Drivers in Macclesfield and Sandbach book the same way.
NUMBERS WORTH KNOWING
Six figures that settle most of the calls we take
None of these are prices. They are the measurements that decide whether a job needs doing this week or whether it will keep until the next service.
DONE WHERE YOU PARK
Six jobs that never need the car to move
These are the ones our vans carry the parts and the equipment for, so they get finished in the space the car is already sitting in.

Warning lights and fault finding
A light on the dash is a symptom, not a diagnosis. We read the stored codes, then test the part the code points at, because a code names a circuit rather than a broken component.
Diagnostics explained
Batteries, charging and coding
Tested before it is condemned, then fitted and coded to the car. Most vehicles built after roughly 2010 need the new battery registering, or the charging system keeps treating it as the old one.
Battery replacement
Brakes, pads and discs
Pads leave the factory around 10 to 12mm thick and are finished at 3mm. On the hills around Congleton they get there sooner, so we measure rather than guess.
Brake repairs
Servicing at your address
Oil, filters, plugs and a full inspection, stamped and recorded so the history stays unbroken. Doing it away from a franchised dealer does not affect your warranty.
Servicing and finance
Tyres, punctures and run-flats
Fitted and balanced where you park. Legal minimum tread is 1.6mm across the middle three quarters, though stopping distances in the wet start stretching well before that.
Mobile tyre fitting
Electrical faults and lighting
Flat batteries overnight, lights that come and go, windows that stop working. A parasitic drain that settles above about 50 milliamps will empty a good battery in a few days.
Mobile car repairsTYRES
Kerbed a wheel on one of the old town-centre streets?
Narrow terraces and tight parking take the edge off a lot of tyres in Congleton, and a sidewall bulge is an MOT failure whatever the tread looks like. Tyres can be spread too, through pay monthly tyres or tyre finance.
WHAT IT COSTS
Why the price is agreed before we set off
You get three separate figures — the call-out, the labour and the parts — and all three are agreed on the phone, before anybody is on their way to you.
Keeping them apart matters, because a single lump sum hides which bit is which. When the parts figure is on its own you can see what the components actually cost, and you can ask whether there is a sensible alternative. Sometimes there is, and sometimes the better part is the cheaper decision over three years. Either way it is your call, made before anything is ordered.
The figure does not move afterwards. If we open something up and find a second fault, the work stops and you get a phone call with a new number to say yes or no to. Nobody starts a job they have not been told the price of, and nobody is asked to make a decision stood next to an engine that is already in pieces.

That is also why we would rather have the registration than the make and model. The plate tells us the exact engine, the exact brake setup and whether the battery needs coding, and that is the difference between a firm number and a guess. It takes about two minutes on the phone.
If the total is more than you were expecting, it can be spread at 0% over three, four or six months through pay monthly car repairs in Congleton. There is more detail on what shapes a bill in our guide to how much a mobile mechanic costs.

Not sure whether it can be sorted where the car is standing?
Describe it in your own words and we will tell you honestly — done at your address, or collected and finished on a ramp.
IT WILL NOT START
If your car will not start in Congleton
You do not need to know what is wrong. Tell us what the car did when you turned the key, in whatever words come out, and that one sentence usually decides what gets loaded before anyone comes to you.

The two things we will ask you are what noise the car made, and where it is parked — on the drive, at the kerb, or in a car park at work. Neither question is a test. They just decide whether a battery, a starter or a fuel problem is the likely one, and whether there is room to work on it where it stands.
It is worth saying that a battery reading 12.4 volts at rest is discharged rather than dead, and a good many cars that get written off as needing a new one only ever needed charging properly and the drain finding. That is why we test before we sell anybody a battery, and why a proper test takes a few minutes rather than a few seconds. The six descriptions below are the ones we hear most often on the phone.
Silence when you turn the key
Nothing at all, not even a click, and often the dashboard goes dark as you turn it. That points at power getting to the starter rather than the starter itself, so we check the battery, the earth straps and the main connections first.
One heavy clunk, then quiet
A single solid thud and then nothing more, no matter how many times you try. That is usually the starter motor engaging and then stalling, and it is a job that can normally be done where the car is sitting.
Fast clicking, over and over
A rapid chattering from under the bonnet is the classic sign of a battery with enough charge to work the solenoid but not enough to spin the engine. Cold mornings on the moorland edge bring this one out first.
It turns over but never fires
The engine spins happily and sounds healthy, but it will not catch. Now we are looking at fuel, spark or a crank sensor, and that needs the fault-code equipment our vans carry rather than a jump pack.
It starts, then dies within seconds
It catches, runs for a moment, coughs and cuts out. That pattern often points at an immobiliser not seeing the key properly, or a fuelling fault that only shows once the engine is actually running.
Fine on jump leads, flat by morning
Jump it and it runs perfectly, leave it overnight and it is dead again. Something is drawing current with the car asleep, and anything settling above roughly 50 milliamps will empty a healthy battery in days.
Whichever of those it is, tell us the registration and the description and you get a price before anybody sets off. Some of these finish in twenty minutes from the moment we arrive; others need the fault tracing properly first.
There is more on the common causes on our car won’t start in Congleton page, and on what a healthy charging system should look like under car battery replacement. If it is stuck somewhere awkward, ring 01744 808586.
WORTH KNOWING
Congleton has been Beartown for centuries, and the brakes take the same punishment
The old story about the town’s bear is charming and the nickname has stuck for good. What has not changed either is the ground the town sits on: the Cloud rises straight up behind Timbersbrook, Mow Cop sits on the skyline to the south, and almost every route out of Congleton involves a proper climb and a proper descent. Cars here wear their brakes and clutches out on gradients, not on mileage, which is why the odometer is a poor guide to when they need looking at.
HILLS, BRAKES AND CLUTCHES
Living under the Cloud is hard on brakes, clutches and coolant
Congleton sits right on the western edge of the Peak District, and that shows up in the parts we replace here far more than it does in the mileage on the clock.
Go up towards Timbersbrook and the Cloud, or south over the tops towards Mow Cop, and the car spends long stretches either holding itself back downhill or slipping the clutch uphill behind something slower. Both put heat into components that are designed to shed it on the flat. Brake pads that might comfortably do 30,000 miles on a level commute can be finished a good deal sooner here, and it is the front discs that usually tell you first, through a pulse you can feel in the pedal on a long descent.

Clutches suffer in the same way. Pulling away on a gradient with a full car is the hardest thing a clutch ever does, and a plate that is starting to slip will show it first on a hill rather than on the flat. If the engine revs climb without the car gaining speed as you pull away uphill, that is worth a look before it strands you.
Cooling gets forgotten in all this. Long climbs load the engine and the cooling system for minutes at a time, and a weak thermostat, a tired water pump or coolant that has never been changed will show up on the road up to the tops long before it does around town. Coolant is not a fit-and-forget fluid; it loses its corrosion inhibitors over the years even when the level never drops.
Brakes are measured rather than guessed at — you can see how that works on our brake pads and discs page, and heavier clutch work goes into the workshop under clutch repair.
WHEN IT NEEDS THE RAMP
The jobs that need the wheels off the ground, and the one the law keeps indoors
Some work needs the weight off the wheels to be done safely and properly. Having a workshop behind the service is the reason that is an easy conversation rather than a dead end.
Clutches, gearboxes, structural welding and anything involving the underside of the car go to Boundary Road, where there are ramps and the right equipment. We collect the car, do the work, and bring it back to you. Welding is done in house rather than sent out, which keeps the timescale under our control instead of somebody else’s.
The MOT is the one test the law says has to happen at an approved test centre, and ours is DVSA-approved and on site. That means the test and any work it throws up are handled by the same people, so nothing gets handed back to you as a list to go and arrange somewhere else. You can also present a car up to a month before the current certificate expires and keep your existing renewal date.
Heavier work goes through clutch repair, gearbox repairs and head gasket repair, and the test itself through our MOT centre. A pre-test look over is covered under pre-MOT checks.
Vans, pickups and light commercials are welcome on exactly the same terms, and trailers too — see commercial and fleet repairs.
Want to know whether it can be done on your drive?
Send the make, model, what the car is doing and your Congleton postcode over on WhatsApp. You will get a straight answer on whether it finishes where it is parked or genuinely needs the ramp, and what each of those would cost.
THE MAKES WE GET ASKED ABOUT
Hyundai, Kia and keeping a warranty intact without a franchised dealer
Congleton drivers ring us about Hyundai and Kia more than any other pairing, and the question underneath it is nearly always the same one: will going elsewhere cost me my warranty?
Your warranty stays intact. Block exemption is the rule that covers this, and in plain English it means a manufacturer cannot insist you use their own dealer network to keep a warranty valid. What they can insist on is that the servicing is done to the correct schedule, with parts of the right specification, and that it is properly recorded. All three of those are exactly what a service should involve anyway, and all three are what we do.
Hyundai and Kia servicing
Both makes share a great deal underneath, including the long manufacturer warranties that make people nervous about going independent. Serviced on schedule, to specification and stamped, that cover carries on exactly as it was.
Warning lights on a modern Hyundai
These cars store a lot of data, and a light usually names a circuit rather than a broken part. Reading the codes and then testing what the code points at is what stops a good component being replaced for nothing.
Everything else on the street
Ford, Vauxhall, Volkswagen, Nissan, Toyota, BMW and the rest are all routine. The registration tells us the exact engine and setup, which is why we ask for the plate rather than the badge.
Marque-specific work is covered in more depth under Hyundai servicing and repairs and Hyundai diagnostics, and general servicing under car servicing. If you want the warranty position confirmed for your own car, ring 01744 808586.
Mobile mechanic Congleton · Payment Assist
Split a bill that arrived without warning
Anything described on this page can go over 3, 4 or 6 months with nothing added. Up to £1,000 it is a soft credit search, so finding out where you stand leaves no mark on your file.
AIR CONDITIONING
Air conditioning that blows warm, sorted where the car is parked
Air conditioning is the job Congleton drivers put off longest and regret quickest, usually on the first genuinely warm week of the year.
A system that has gone lukewarm is not always short of gas. Refrigerant escapes slowly through the seals and hoses of every car ever built, so a small annual loss is normal, but a system that has emptied in a few weeks has a leak that needs finding rather than topping up. Putting gas into a leaking system is money poured onto the floor, which is why we look for the leak first with dye or an electronic detector.
The other half of the job is the compressor. It is driven off the engine and it needs running regularly to keep its own seals lubricated, which is the real reason a system left switched off all winter often fails in June. Ten minutes a month with it on, even in cold weather, does more for it than anything else you can do.
There is also the smell. A musty draught when you first switch on is bacteria growing on a damp evaporator behind the dashboard, and that is cleaned rather than regassed.
The full picture is on our air conditioning diagnostics in Congleton page, with the underlying detail under air con regas and antibacterial cleaning.
NEARBY TOWNS
Towns around Congleton our vans cover as well
We have vans covering every corner of Cheshire, with one of them working this side of the county. Same prices, same standards, same people.
The villages in between are covered too, whether or not they have a page of their own here. If you want the county-wide picture, it is all set out on our mobile mechanic Cheshire page, and drivers over the border towards the Greater Manchester side book through Stockport.
AROUND THE TOWN
The parts of Congleton we get called out to most
Cars pick their moment badly. These are the addresses we end up at, and what tends to be wrong when somebody gets there.
None of these areas has a page of its own on this site, so if you are looking for your street rather than your town, this is the section that covers it. Tell us the road name on the phone and we will know exactly what sort of access we are dealing with.
The town centre and the old terraces
Streets off Mill Street and West Road where the car lives at the kerb. Tight parking marks a lot of alloys and sidewalls here, and a bulge in a sidewall fails an MOT no matter how good the tread is.
Buglawton and the canal side
Older housing on the northern edge, close to the Macclesfield Canal. Plenty of short journeys that never get the engine properly warm, which is hard on batteries and on diesel particulate filters alike.
Mossley
Newer estates with drives, so the bigger jobs are straightforward here. Full services, brake discs and battery replacements all get finished on the driveway without anything needing to be moved.
Somerford and the Link Road
The new road changed how people get in and out of the town. More steady A-road running than there used to be, which suits an engine but does nothing for tyres that were already down near the limit.
Astbury and the lanes
Narrow lanes, hedges close in and standing water after heavy rain. Suspension, tracking and underside corrosion come up more here than anywhere else around the town.
Timbersbrook and the road to the Cloud
The steepest ground we work on locally. Brakes and clutches are the recurring theme, and cold damp mornings on the moorland edge find a weak battery before anything else does.
Whichever of those you are in, the booking is the same — the plate, what the car is doing, and where it is parked. Warning lights are covered under car diagnostics, and tyres through mobile tyre fitting in Congleton. Electric and hybrid work has its own page at EV diagnostics in Congleton and hybrid diagnostics.
ASKED AND ANSWERED
The questions Congleton drivers ring up and ask
Twenty of them, answered properly rather than in a single line. If yours is not here, ring and ask — you get the same answer on the phone.
A mobile mechanic in Congleton is quoted as three separate figures — the call-out, the labour and the parts — and you are told all three before anything is booked, so the number you agree on the phone is the number you pay when the work is finished.
Parts are the bit people worry about, so we tell you what is going on the car and what it costs before any of it is ordered. If a sensible cheaper option exists for your vehicle, you hear about that as well.
Nothing changes once the technician is on your drive. A price revised at the kerb with the bonnet already open is not really a quote at all, and it is not something we do to anybody.
Ring 01744 808586 with your registration and you get a figure on that call. Larger bills can be split over three, four or six months through pay monthly car repairs in Congleton.
Air conditioning is tested before it is refilled in Congleton, because refrigerant only ever leaves a sealed system through a leak, and putting fresh gas into a system that is losing it means paying twice for the same repair in one summer, once as gas and once as the repair itself.
Every car loses a small amount of gas each year through its seals and hoses, and that gradual loss is normal and easily topped up. A system that has emptied within weeks is a different problem and needs the leak locating first.
We use dye or an electronic detector to find where it is escaping, then quote the repair and the refill separately so you can see which is which before deciding anything.
A musty smell when you first switch on is a separate job again, and it is cleaned rather than regassed. Both are covered on our air conditioning diagnostics in Congleton page.
Hyundai servicing and repairs are done at your address in Congleton on exactly the same terms as any other make, and using an independent garage instead of a franchised dealer does not affect a Hyundai warranty as long as the work is done to schedule and recorded.
Hyundai and Kia share a great deal underneath and both carry long manufacturer warranties, which is why owners of these cars ask the warranty question more often than anybody else.
What actually protects the cover is the correct service schedule, parts of the right specification, and a proper record of what was done and when. That is what a service should be anyway. Hyundai publish their own service schedules, so there is no mystery about what the car is due and at what point.
There is more detail under Hyundai servicing and repairs, and fault finding on these cars under Hyundai diagnostics.
We come to you in Congleton for the large majority of jobs, and the work is done wherever the car already sits — on a driveway, at the kerb outside a terraced house, or in a car park at work while you are inside doing your day.
What matters is space rather than surface. There needs to be room to open a door fully on the side being worked on, and the ground should be reasonably level. A gravel drive or a cobbled entry is rarely a problem, whereas a car wedged tight against a wall on the working side usually is.
If you are unsure about your street, say the name when you ring. We will tell you straight away whether it works where it is or whether collecting the car is simpler.
The jobs that finish on site are listed under mobile car repairs, and anything heavier goes through our workshop.
Your warranty stays intact, provided the car is serviced on the manufacturer’s schedule, with parts of the correct specification, and the work is properly recorded. A manufacturer cannot require you to use their own dealer network to keep a new-car warranty valid.
The rule behind that is called block exemption, which in plain English simply means the choice of garage is yours rather than theirs.
What they can insist on is the standard of the work, and rightly so. Miss a service interval, or use oil of the wrong specification, and that is a genuine reason for a claim to be questioned. Keeping the invoices and the stamped book matters as much as the work itself if a claim is ever made.
So we service to schedule, record what went on the car, and stamp the book. See car servicing for what an interim and a full service each include.
The MOT is the one test that legally has to happen inside an approved test centre, so we collect the car from your address in Congleton, test it at our own DVSA-approved centre, carry out anything it needs, and bring it back to you sorted.
Doing it that way means the test and any repairs are handled by the same people. Nothing gets handed back as a list of jobs for you to go and arrange with somebody else.
You can present a car up to a month before the current certificate runs out and keep your existing renewal date, which is worth knowing if the timing is awkward. A retest within ten working days costs nothing if the car stays with us, and most people take that up rather than driving away and back again.
The test is covered under our MOT centre, and a look over beforehand under pre-MOT checks.
A car that will not start in Congleton is very often a same-day job, and the thing that decides it is what noise the car made when you turned the key rather than how urgent it feels standing next to it, so that one description is the first thing we ask you for.
Silence with a dark dashboard points at power. One heavy clunk usually means the starter. Fast repeated clicking is a battery with enough charge to click but not enough to turn the engine over.
An engine that spins freely but never fires is a different family of faults again, and that one needs the fault-code equipment our vans carry rather than a jump pack. One that catches, runs for a second or two and then dies points somewhere else entirely, and often turns out to be an immobiliser not reading the key properly.
Describe it in your own words on 01744 808586. All six of the common patterns are set out on our car won’t start in Congleton page.
Same-day is realistic for a great many Congleton jobs, and where it genuinely is not we say so on the call and give you a booked slot instead of a vague maybe, so you can plan the rest of your week around a real time.
What decides it is what the car needs and what parts have to be on board, not where you happen to live. A battery or a puncture is quick to arrange. A diagnostic session needs a proper block of time set aside. Parts availability is usually what decides the day rather than anything else.
We are open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5pm, and Saturday mornings from 9am until 12:30pm, and Saturdays book up first.
Ring 01744 808586 and you will be told which of those you are looking at while you are still on the phone. Urgent recovery goes through vehicle recovery.
Brake pads and discs are replaced at your address in Congleton as a routine job, with the pads measured rather than guessed at first — they leave the factory around 10 to 12mm thick and are considered finished once they are down to about 3mm.
Measuring matters because a squeal is not always a worn pad, and a pad with plenty left can still squeal if the shims or the slide pins have seized up. Discs carry a minimum thickness stamped on them by the manufacturer, and once they are under it they have to be replaced rather than skimmed.
A pulse through the pedal on a long descent usually means warped or lipped discs rather than pads, and replacing pads on their own would not fix it.
What we check and what the measurements mean is set out under brake pads and discs, with heavier work under brake repairs.
Brakes around Congleton wear faster because gradients, not mileage, are what actually consume a brake pad. Holding a car back down from the Cloud or Mow Cop puts sustained heat into pads and discs that a flat commute of the same distance never would.
Heat is the whole story. A pad works by turning motion into warmth, and a long descent asks it to do that continuously rather than in short bursts at junctions. Brake fluid matters here as well, because it absorbs moisture over the years and then boils at a lower temperature, which is exactly what a long descent tests.
The practical result is that the odometer is a poor guide here. Two identical cars with identical mileage can be in completely different condition depending on which roads they use.
That is why we measure at every service rather than working from a mileage figure. See brake pads and discs for what the numbers mean.
Batteries are tested, fitted and coded to the vehicle at your address in Congleton. Most cars built after roughly 2010 need the new battery registering to the car, or the charging system carries on treating it as the old worn one and shortens its life.
Testing first matters more than people expect. A battery reading 12.6 volts at rest is healthy, and under 12.4 volts it is discharged rather than dead, which is a different problem with a different fix.
With the engine running, a healthy charging system should show somewhere between 13.8 and 14.6 volts. Outside that range the alternator is the thing to look at, not the battery. A parasitic drain settling above roughly 50 milliamps will flatten even a brand new battery within a few days, so a battery that keeps dying is usually a symptom rather than the fault.
Coding is included rather than added on afterwards. See car battery replacement for the full picture.
Electric and hybrid cars are worked on in Congleton by technicians holding IMI Level 4, which is the qualification required to work safely on high-voltage systems. A great many mobile operators cannot legally touch these vehicles, so it is worth asking anybody before they arrive.
The work itself is often not what owners expect. Electric cars are heavy and quick off the mark, so they get through tyres faster than a petrol equivalent of the same size.
At the same time regenerative braking does most of the slowing, so the friction brakes are used lightly and calipers can seize through simple lack of use rather than through wear. Electric cars also still carry an ordinary twelve-volt battery, and that failing is the single most common electric call-out we get.
Servicing, tyres and brakes on these cars are all routine for us. See EV diagnostics in Congleton and hybrid diagnostics.
Repairs in Congleton can be spread over three, four or six months at 0% interest through Payment Assist, with nothing added to the total. On amounts up to £1,000 it is a soft credit search, so simply finding out where you stand leaves no mark on your file.
To apply you need to be eighteen or over, resident in the UK, and paying by debit card in your own name. That is the whole list.
The one thing that genuinely matters is timing. It has to be arranged before the invoice is settled, so mention it when you book rather than after the work is finished. The agreement itself is with Payment Assist rather than with us, and the decision comes back while you are still on the phone.
The figures and the months are set out on pay monthly car repairs in Congleton, with tyres covered under tyre finance.
Tyres are fitted and balanced at your address in Congleton, including run-flats and low profiles. The legal minimum tread is 1.6mm across the centre three quarters of the tyre, although wet grip and stopping distances start falling away noticeably below about 3mm, so grip goes long before a tyre is actually illegal.
Kerbing is the other thing we see constantly here, because parking on the older terraced streets in town is tight. A bulge in a sidewall is an MOT failure regardless of how much tread is left.
Bring the registration and we can confirm the right size and speed rating for your car rather than working from what is currently fitted, which is not always correct. Tyres age as well as wear. The rubber hardens over the years, so a tyre with plenty of tread left can still be past its best if it has been fitted a long time.
Sizes and options are on mobile tyre fitting in Congleton, and spreading the cost under pay monthly tyres.
Anything needing the car lifted goes into our own workshop and DVSA-approved test centre on Boundary Road, where there are ramps and the right equipment. We collect the car from you in Congleton, complete the work properly, and return it to you when it is finished.
Clutches, gearboxes, structural welding and most underside work fall into that group, and welding is done in house rather than passed to somebody else.
Having both halves under one roof is the practical difference. A mobile service without a workshop behind it has to hand the harder jobs back to you unfinished. Collection and return are arranged around you, and anything found while the car is on the ramp gets a phone call before it is touched.
Ring 01744 808586 and we will tell you honestly which it is. See clutch repair and gearbox repairs.
Warning lights are diagnosed at your address in Congleton using the same fault-code equipment we use in the workshop. A stored code names the circuit that reported a problem rather than the broken component, so the code is the starting point and never the answer on its own.
That distinction saves people real money. A code mentioning an oxygen sensor can just as easily be caused by an air leak upstream of it, and replacing the sensor would change nothing.
So we read the codes, then test what the code points at, and only then quote for a part. It takes longer than plugging in and reading out a name, and it is the reason it works. Codes also arrive as stored, pending or permanent, and a pending one that has not repeated is usually worth watching rather than spending money on.
How that is done is explained under car diagnostics.
Vans, pickups, light commercials and trailers are all worked on in Congleton on the same basis as cars, and for anybody running a vehicle for work we will fit around the times that cost you least, including early starts and Saturday mornings, so the vehicle loses as little working time as possible.
Downtime is usually the real cost for a working vehicle, and it is often bigger than the repair itself. That is why a job done where the vehicle is already parked overnight tends to be the cheapest version of it.
Servicing, brakes, diagnostics, batteries and tyres are all done at your address, with heavier work collected and finished on a ramp. Trailers are covered too, which is worth saying plainly because plenty of places will not look at one at all.
Multiple vehicles are handled through commercial and fleet repairs, with diagnostics under car diagnostics.
Workplace car parks are one of the easiest bookings we take in Congleton, because the car sits still for a full working day and nobody has to give up an evening or a Saturday morning to get the job done, and the car is ready by the time you finish for the day.
The industrial estates off the Link Road and the parking around Radnor Park all work well for this. All we ask is that you check your employer is happy for the work to take place there.
Servicing, brakes, batteries, tyres and diagnostics are all comfortable in a parking bay, and you come out at the end of the day to a car that is already sorted. We work quietly and leave the bay as we found it, which is usually what an employer wants to hear before agreeing to it.
Tell us the site when you book. What gets done on site is listed under mobile car repairs and car servicing.
Clutch replacement needs the wheels off the ground, so the car is collected from Congleton and the work is completed on a ramp in our own workshop, then returned to you. Diagnosing whether the clutch is genuinely the fault can be done where the car is parked.
Hills show a tired clutch up first. Pulling away uphill with a loaded car is the hardest thing a clutch ever has to do, and slip appears there long before it shows on the flat.
The test is simple enough to describe: if the engine revs rise as you pull away without the car gaining speed to match, the plate is slipping rather than gripping. A pedal that has gone heavy, or one that bites right at the very top of its travel, is telling you the same story a little earlier.
What the job involves is set out under clutch repair, with related work under gearbox repairs.
Astbury, Buglawton, Mossley, Somerford, Timbersbrook and the smaller places around them are all covered on exactly the same terms as the town itself, at the same prices, whether or not they have a page of their own on this website, and the villages in between are covered too.
Out on the lanes the work has its own character. Narrow roads, standing water after heavy rain and hedges close in on both sides mean tracking, suspension and underside corrosion come up more often than they do in town.
Give us the village or the road name when you ring and we will know what sort of access we are dealing with before anybody arrives. Standing water is the one to watch after heavy rain, because it hides potholes that do real damage to tyres and tracking.

HOW A BOOKING GOES
What actually happens on the day
Three stages, and you know exactly where you stand at each one. No mystery, and nothing left to the end.
Before anyone arrives
You have already been told the call-out, the labour and the parts, and you know roughly when to expect somebody. Nothing has been ordered that you have not agreed to.
While the work is going on
If a second fault turns up, the job stops and you get a phone call with a new figure to accept or refuse. You are never asked to decide next to an engine already in pieces.
Once it is finished
You get told what was replaced and why, what is worth keeping an eye on, and what will comfortably wait. Old parts stay with the car if you want to see them.
If the total is bigger than you were expecting, it can go over three, four or six months at 0% through pay monthly car repairs in Congleton.
GET IN TOUCH
Tell us the registration, what the car is doing, and where it is parked
Those three things are enough for a firm price on the first call. You do not need to know what is wrong with it — describing what the car did in your own words is genuinely all we need to bring the right parts.
