Independent Honda specialists
Proper Honda servicing. St Helens drivers get a real inspection, not a tick sheet
Fastlane Autocare is a full garage on Boundary Road, and Honda is one of the makes we look after week in, week out. A service here follows the Honda schedule for your model and engine, using the correct oil specification and genuine-quality filters. Just as importantly, the car goes on the ramp and gets looked at properly — brakes measured, suspension checked, tyres assessed and the underside inspected for corrosion and leaks.
You get told what we found, what needs doing now, what can safely wait, and what it will cost, before anything beyond the service is touched. We stamp your book and keep a digital record. Nothing is added without your approval, and bigger jobs can be spread over monthly payments with Payment Assist. Ring 01744 808586 or send us a WhatsApp.

Service options
What is included in our Honda servicing
Three schedules plus everything that tends to come out of an inspection. That is the whole point of Honda servicing. St Helens drivers should leave knowing exactly what state the car is in.
Interim Honda Service
Oil and filter, plus a full safety inspection. Sensible every six months or 6,000 miles if you do short local runs or a lot of stop-start driving.
Full Honda Service
The complete schedule — oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter where fitted, plugs on petrol models, and a full brake and suspension inspection.
Honda Civic Servicing
The model we see most. VTEC petrol and i-DTEC diesel schedules both covered, with the maintenance minder reset properly afterwards.
Honda MOT
Book the MOT with the service and anything that would fail gets found and quoted in one visit instead of two.
Honda Diagnostics
If a warning light is on when the car arrives, we scan every module properly rather than clearing it and hoping.
Where we work
Areas we cover for Honda drivers
We handle Honda servicing. St Helens drivers, and drivers from right across Merseyside and the North West, bring their cars to our Boundary Road workshop.
Why Fastlane
Why Honda owners book their servicing with us
What a service here includes that a budget oil change does not. This is the standard we hold on all Honda servicing. St Helens drivers can compare it against anything else locally.
The right oil, every time
Honda engines are specific about oil grade. We use the specification listed for your engine, not a generic multigrade that happens to be in the bulk tank.
Maintenance minder reset properly
The service indicator is reset through the car so the counters restart correctly, rather than being cleared with a workaround.
A written report
You get told what we found and what it means, with photos if it helps. No pressure, no scare stories.
AA and RAC approved
An approved independent garage rated 4.9 on Google, with 0% Payment Assist finance on bigger bills.
Models we service
Every Honda on the road round here
Petrol, diesel and hybrid. These are the models that come in most often for Honda servicing. St Helens runs a lot of Civics and Jazzes.
Civic
From the 1.4 and 1.8 i-VTEC through to the 1.6 i-DTEC diesel and the turbo VTEC. Book Civic servicing and we will match the schedule to your engine.
Jazz and HR-V
Small petrol engines that mostly do short journeys, which is hard on oil. We usually suggest an interim service between the fulls.
CR-V
Petrol, diesel and the later hybrids. The diesels want their filters kept on top of, and we check the DPF condition at every service.
Accord and Civic Type R
Higher-mileage saloons and performance models. Both benefit from a shorter oil interval than the book suggests if the car works hard.
In the workshop
What our Honda servicing actually finds
A service is only worth having if somebody actually looks. These are the things our Honda servicing. St Helens customers are most often surprised we picked up.
Belts and chains
Whether your Honda uses a belt or a chain depends on the engine. We check which you have from the VIN and tell you where you stand on interval.
Stored fault codes
A scan at service time catches faults that have not lit the dash yet, which is far cheaper than finding them after a breakdown.
Brakes and suspension
Discs and pads get measured, not glanced at. Rear beam bushes and drop links are the usual advisories on higher-mileage Hondas.
Most services here turn up one or two things worth knowing about, and almost none of them are urgent. That is the value of Honda servicing. St Helens drivers who service on schedule tend to get warning months in advance rather than a surprise failure, which means the work can be planned and budgeted rather than paid for in a hurry.
If we do find something, you get a call with the options and a price. If it can wait until the next service we will say so plainly. See our Honda specialist work for the bigger jobs.
Service intervals, and why the book is not always right
Honda quotes generous service intervals, and they are fine for a car doing steady motorway miles. They are optimistic for a car doing four short trips a day around town, because the oil never gets fully up to temperature and moisture and fuel dilution build up. Most Hondas round here fall into the second category.
Our advice is simple: if your annual mileage is low but your journeys are short, service on time rather than on mileage, and consider an interim oil change in between. It is the cheapest thing you can do for the engine. Ring 01744 808586 and we will suggest a schedule that fits how you actually drive.
Oil and filters
Why oil specification matters on a Honda
Honda engines, particularly the i-VTEC petrols and the i-DTEC diesels, are designed around a specific oil viscosity and additive package. Using a thicker or cheaper oil affects how quickly the variable valve timing responds and how well the engine protects itself on cold start. On the diesels, using an oil that is not low-SAPS also shortens the life of the particulate filter, because the ash loads it up faster.
We stock the correct grades and we tell you which one is going in. If you have a service history with a mix of oils, it is worth getting back onto the right specification. That is a core part of proper Honda servicing. St Helens has plenty of places that will do a cheap oil change, but the oil in the can matters more than the price on the board.

Belts and chains
Does your Honda have a timing belt or a timing chain?
It depends on the engine, and this is one of the most common questions we get asked about Honda servicing. St Helens owners often assume every Honda has a chain. Many Honda petrol engines, including the 1.4 and 1.8 i-VTEC, do use a timing chain designed to last the life of the engine. The diesels and several older petrol engines use a rubber timing belt that has a defined replacement interval in years and miles, whichever comes first.
Getting this wrong is expensive, so we check your VIN rather than guess. If yours is a belt we will tell you the interval and when it is due. See Honda timing belt replacement or Honda timing chain replacement, or ring 01744 808586 with your registration.
Diesels
Looking after a Honda diesel that does short runs
The i-DTEC diesels are strong engines, but like every modern diesel they need a decent run to keep the particulate filter clear. A car that only does a two-mile school run will slowly load the filter with soot, and eventually the dash will tell you about it. The service schedule assumes a mix of driving that many owners simply do not do.
At service time we read the filter soot and ash loading and tell you honestly how it is doing. That check is standard on every diesel we handle for Honda servicing. St Helens driving patterns make it worth watching. If the loading is climbing we can suggest a driving change, or clean the filter before it becomes a forced regeneration problem. See Honda DPF repair for the detail.
Warning lights
The dashboard light that appears just after a service
If a light comes on shortly after a service it is almost always coincidence rather than cause, but it still needs reading properly. The most common are tyre pressure warnings after a pressure reset, and the maintenance minder itself if it has not been cleared correctly. Both are quick to sort and we will not charge you to look at something we should have done.
Anything else gets a proper scan. We read every module, not just the engine, because on a Honda the interesting faults are often in the body or ABS side. See Honda dashboard warning lights or call 01744 808586.
How it works
Booking Honda servicing. St Helens drivers, here is what happens
Straightforward, and nothing happens without your say-so.
1. Tell us the model and mileage
Ring 01744 808586 or WhatsApp the registration. We will confirm which schedule is due and what it covers.
2. Book a slot
Drop it at Boundary Road. Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 12:30pm.
3. Service and inspection
The schedule is carried out and the car is inspected on the ramp, with brakes measured and the underside checked.
4. We call you
If we find anything, you get the options and a price. If nothing needs doing we tell you that too.
5. Stamped and reset
Book stamped, digital record updated, service indicator reset, and the car road tested before you collect.
Servicing and MOT
Book the MOT at the same time and save a trip
If your MOT is due within a few weeks of the service, do them together. Everything an MOT tester looks at is already being inspected during the service, so anything that would fail is found while the car is on the ramp and can be quoted there and then. It saves you a second visit and it avoids the situation where a car passes a service and fails an MOT a fortnight later.
Tell us when you book that both are due and we will allow the time. Pairing the two is the most efficient way to buy Honda servicing. St Helens drivers save a trip and usually a bit of money. See Honda MOT for what is checked, or just ring 01744 808586 with your registration.
